Not sold at a loss, 450-500. But it will be sold at a small loss at 399-499

So its just for standby and not utilized when the PS4 is playing games and such? This means that the CPU/GPU have some of their resources utlized for all that OS backend stuff beyond gaming.
That was alot of always running backend OS.

The secondary chip they talk in the conference is background tasks like downloads, uploads, video recording, etc while playing game.

Yeah... That's what I heard in conference too, but this article is prumably about same chip and its defined differently. Considering there is no offical Sony doc on it yet, I'm not going to mention it in OP as we don't have certainty on its usecase. I'd think it would be for some background ish all the time, but continuous recording and such are a big endeavor.
Its not like Sony has said one thing in a conference only to have it be not quite that robust later. I'll wait for possibly E3, more interviews, more tech specs on their site, etc.
Since big tech heavy devs like Epic are giving it glowing reviews, I think this is a legit system front to back. I'm really excited for it. MS is going to have a hard time with the rumors pointing towards their hardware.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
"It was a pleasant surprise not just for us, but also for many game developers out there working on PS4 titles now and completely unaware of the upgrade - a final flourish to the design seemingly added in at the last moment to make PlayStation 4 the most technologically advanced games console of the next gaming era."
Even developers didn't know about the upgrade... so all the demos/techs showed was running with 4GB development.
I'm curious if MS knows that too... surprise.

Which further supports my theory in another thread that this last minute change was the reason why no PS4 box was shown. It all has to be redesigned based on adding 2x the memory chips.
I added a new row for secondary processors. At first I was going to leave them out as not much is known about their purposes and nothing about their specs.
But, some good info about its purpose for PS4 has come out. Still don't know its specs though... if it really matters.

I understand better the Eurogamer article now... seems like two chips... a unknown for background tasks and a ARM for Stand-by.
"There was also talk of a new processing module in the PS4 hardware designed to handle tasks like background downloading. Our sources suggest a low-power ARM core designed to handle "standby" tasks along these lines, while the console also saves the current gameplay state when the system is closed down, meaning instant access to the last game you played when you power up again. OS tasks and resource allocation remain unknown (512MB or thereabouts was discussed with developers) but we now have some idea of what this system can do: Sony talks about running a web browser "and other applications" during gameplay."
A another great feature... now I can pause my games, put the PS4 in stand-by and play it after without boot or load the game again.

Yeah.. I've started adding it to OP.
The powersave mode is nice, but I never use it in anything. I prefer to turn stuff all the way off.
