343 industries confirmed that halo 4 is going to be a 360 game. Porting it to next xbox would be pretty pointless as it would be the same exact thing as the 360 game. Anyway I don't think a new xbox is coming out at the end of 2012. Just for the 2012 holidays halo 4, call of duty, and assassins creed III are already confirmed 360 titles. Its possible that Grand Theft Auto V, Diablo 3, and a new bad company game will also be holiday 360 titles. Releasing the new xbox with huge games like those still releasing for the 360 doesn't really make sense.
The wii U will only encourge developers to make more 360/ps3/wiiu games since it is in a similar class to them. The new xbox would get outsold by the 360 holidays 2012 since it won't get any third party support. Developers will either make a game for the wii U, PC, and the 360 and PS3 which will still be selling well, or make a game for the new xbox with a none existant install base and the very top of the line PCs. What do you think they will pick.

I'll address your issue since Seece's is not really solid.
343 confirmed Halo 4 will be on 360. But they haven't provided any proof to support that claim nor did they rule out a Nex-Box release. Anybody who knows the basics of the industry knows that games often get changed last minute or ported etc....etc.. Since Microsoft has not actually made a statement saying it won't come to next generation Xbox and the fact that 343 started development on a Next Generation game in 2008 and more recently was shown to have staff profiles stating they were involved with a next generation Xbox. The fact that if that were Halo 5 then it has been in development since Halo 4 began development, if its another Halo title then it is going on its fifth year of development next year. How long do you think Microsoft and 343 intend to work on this next generation game?
You do realize that Assassins Creed and CoD are both annual titles also despite EA's assurances its not the case a release of BadCompany 3 would make BF an annual franchise as well. Halo has also seen nearly annual releases despite what Microsoft says. So when exactly should this next Xbox launch? I mean what about 2013 when the next CoD and Assassins Creed and BF and Halo title all launch, 360 will still be alive and the software should keep it selling right?
That is exactly why Microsoft needs to act next year. WiiU will recieve all of the big games that 360/PS3 recieve plus all of Nintendo's first party software and the at least ten exclusive third party titles that will arrive within the first fiscal year. WiiU will have no competition at all especially if it retails at an afforable price.
Say Microsoft launches winter 2013, well first off it still won't have the titles you mention I mean Assassins Creed , CoD, BF they will all be headed to WiiU,360,PS3. Microsoft's new hardware will need at least a year to get those games unless development began already or very early next year.
Microsoft doesn't need to worry about Xbox 360 or PS3. They have to worry about WiiU. If Nintendo has a year or more to dominate the industry and Nintendo is able to push nearly as many units as 360 did during that time, then MS is in big trouble. Also if any of the leaked specs are correct or Microsoft doesn't sell its hardware at a loss. Then it won't be able to really crush Nintendo's visuals meaning like 360 was with PS3 all of Nex-Box's titles can be ported to WiiU. Microsoft will have to fight against a console with over a years head start all of the third parties fully in support and not much to offer that is vastly superior.
Fact is Microsoft laid out their strategy when they launched Xbox. Launching a year or more late would be completely against that strategy. Not to mention do you honestly believe that their is absolutely no truth to any of the leaks? That the whole industry is spilling its guts but its all a huge conspiracy by the media to trick consumers.
Nex-Box will be revealed in 2012, it will very likely launch in 2012. Whether it is named 10 or not it is in Microsoft's best interest to launch their platform in 2012 and latest spring 2013. Anything later is almost suicide.
As for the price cut which Seece mentioned. Why cut hardware prices when the hardware is still selling? Save the cut till you release the new system or its announcement hurts sales. No need to cut it early and especially prior to the holiday season!
