Strategy Informer

In the end, Combat Evolved Anniversary is a strange package. Its campaign feels half hearted, neither fully remaking nor preserving the original game.

This is what I'm talking about. Anyone that has been following the game knows that is completely false. Of course he neglects to mention how the game has not been fully remade or preserved.

Do reviews actually matter for this game. As a fan I already know what I will be getting.

Saw this coming.

Every full Halo title gets 90+ on metacritic.

Spinoffs, expansions, and now remakes get the 80-89 treatment.

Tis the way of the universe people.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

What did reviewers expect? It's a remake (for the sake of clarification, this is what I have heard) of an old classic. That's not the say they should pamper the game and "be kinder" as some would put it just cause, but you can't put "old gameplay mechanics" or "lackluster graphics" as any kind of true con to the game.

On topic, it looks like it's doing well however. Should move quite a bit of HW this holiday.

They had to keep the gameplay and physics exactly the same if you have the option of switching between the original graphics and the new graphics. From the looks of the screenshots and videos they did a damn good job.

This deserves a higher Meta. A remastered HD collection of Shadow of the Colossus and ICO have 91 meta. MGS HD collection has 91 meta. Now I know this is ONE game but it did kinda' change console gaming and 343 seems to have done a great job on it. Strategyinformer.. Lol.

I will pick this on Boxing Day :)

I dont normally care much for reviewers. But it seems many reviewers either havent played Halo CE before or know nothing about the anniversary edition at all and havent played it. Its the same game in everyway including game mechanics as the original. Just new graphics and multiplayer.

Seriously, if there was ever a reason to not trust review media these days, this game is it.

The fact that quite alot of reviewers are making 100% false statments is pretty worrying.

343 confirmed they have not added anything to the campaign at all. The game engine is the original game engine. It just has new graphics.

LOL at the reviewers who blatantly look really bad.

I know how you must feel with the Uncharted 3 reviews

To be honest I really don't care about reviews or the meta score, I know I'm going to enjoy the game. Just playing on all my favorite Halo:CE maps again is going to make me happy. Its annoying to see reviewers that don't put in the time or effort to properly review a game but oh well what can you do.

Some reviewers just dont get what this is about...

It is a celebration and EXACT remake of the original... it play exactly the same, becasue is IS the same. It is supposed to be the same. Then they mark it down for being the same.

Ah well... I will still spend tomorrow playing it through.

I like the slow pace of the campaign... the relentless onslaught of modern gaming campaigns may well be the fashion but it doesnt make it right, better or more "realistic" imo.

They should mark it up for being the same?
