13: Final Fantasy 9 PSOne

There's no real need to say anything about this game, compared to FF13, this is like 10 games in 1 in terms of content.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

13. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)

A Link to the Past was actually my first Zelda game. I owned a NES but didn't get the original for some reason (but I rectified that after playing this). It's also been a long time since I played it, so my nostalgia goggles may be in full effect here. That said, I do know that this was the game that started my love affair with Zelda games, and for that it will always be worthy of a place on my list. I keep telling myself to get it on the Wii's virtual console, maybe I will once I'm done with Skyward Sword.

You should definitely get it on VC. It's as wonderful today as it was in the 90s.

Yeah... After writing that, the idea was implanted in my mind and I've since bought it along with Super Metroid as an early Christmas gift to myself.

I used Tomi quite a lot. His screams of "Here comes halfling death!" used crack me up. Also found it useful having someone who could pick all the locks and disarm the traps lying around every other corner.

Yes, Tomi would've been my next pick. But it's hard to hold a candle to a nihilistic dwarven monk who kicks immeasurable amounts of ass without even wielding a weapon. (Seriously, in terms of fighting prowess, he's the strongest henchman in the game aside from arguably Daelan)

Sometimes at night, I still hear his deranged battle cries. *shudder*

13. Final Fantasy VIII (PS1)

An excellent game, one of my favourite JRPGs of all time.

2012 - Top 3 [so far]

                                                                             #1                                       #2                                      #3

Despite all the perfectly viable arguments made against it in this thread, Mario Kart 64 is my number 13. I mean, MK64 is one of the two games (along with Mario 64) that got me into gaming in the first place. I owe a lot to that horribly unbalanced game

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

#13. Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2)

To be fair my 13th position should go out to the Tekken series in general but I had to chose one and Tekken Tag Tournament was the winner for me. I was introduced to Tekken thanks to a demo disc that had Tekken 2 on it and something about the gameplay instantly clicked and I've purchased every Tekken game ever since.

Tag Tournament had a total disregard for Tekken's timeline which meant dead characters were playable like my beloved Jun! Also back then Jin was still a Jun/Kuzaya hybrid which fit me best. The Tag mode was really fun to play with and added a lot of variety to matches.

The fighting was as awesome as ever and when you were tired of fighting, you could always bowl (which was surprisingly fun)! This game got plenty of playtime from me and my brother, so much that the disc eventually became unreadable for my PS2.

18. Portal (PC, also on PS3 & 360)

This was pure genius. Only a few hours long with a few bonus maps, but everything was sheer brilliance. The innovative portal gun, some inventive and mind bending physics puzzles and wonderfully funny. I played this on my own and went through the whole thing in a single sitting. A few weeks later I spent a few hours of a gaming session with some mates going through the campaign and simply laughing at their reactions. Pure gaming genius.
