In fact I looked at the river and there wa salmon jumping upstream. NO GAME HAS THIS LEVEL OF DETAIL. Even Forza 4 cant bring me away right now. Im glued. |
Glad to hear you are abouty to nominate Skyrim to the game of the generation! Personally I haven't played enough to judge that far but so far it's been fantastic.
Slight disappointment during the first hour actually (intro was epic but I got a big Call of Duty wibe from the linenarity and hard scripting and direction, but luckily that was only during the introduction. (FYI Todd Howard is a big fan of Modern Warfare, eek!) The feel of the world is like Oblivion once you get past the introduction.
Partially I agree with Mummelman about dumbing down. I want deep RPGs, so dumbing down skills/stats is a stupid thing. That can be managed with mods though (although Im playing on PS3 now).
But I actually like that they removed athletics and acrobatics very very much as those skills were far too powerful, especially being able to run away from enemies so easily.
Also what Selnor said was very important. The perk system is awesome because it forces you to decide which skills to fucus on. It's not like other RPGs (including Oblivion and Morrowind) where you can quickly become an expert at everything.

That is something I haven't considered yet, the modding community for TES games is massive and very good. I can imagine Skyrim becoming a truly great title with mods.
That's the best part about PC gaming!

:)
Also it is very bad to max out someting like Pickpocketing quickly, because it takes your level up quickly which causes some sidequest fights to be very hard. And then its harder to raise your actual level because it requires more XP. And if your other perks arent that high, they dont contribute much XP to the overall Level XP. Its better to just play the game abd level what you actually find yourself doing and using. Then worying about maxing later.
Also there are books for each perk that when read add XP for that perk. 3-5 copies of each throughout Skyrim. ( The only way to max out all perks to 100 )
As well as peopl that will teach you for money.
God this game is freaking awesome.
that's so sick i play elder scrolls games totally different than everybody else i thjink. for example after 35 hours i still didn't kill a mammuth or dragon (killed only the first dragon). thieves guild or something like that? never heard about it in the game^^
to the guy saying it's so bad that there isn't acrobatics anymore. yeah first i thought the same but it was a must to do that. it's freaking stupid to jump up a rock or jump away over huge obstacles if a foe is behind you and you try to flee or to kill him from a position he can't follow you. and it makes no sense that i can train to fall 20 meters deep without dying. if i fall so deep it'S my fault. same with levitation i liked it in morrowind but with these big mountains it's good we don't have it. you have to walk up the mountain that makes sense doesn't it?
i'm with you to say it's stupid to only have 2 weapon classes (ok three with bow) only one and two handed weapons is stupid. i remember morrowind with short sword for example which makes sense because why am i good with a long sword when i only fight with a dagger? or fighting with a hammer is totally different but not in skyrim :(
and the worst part is that there isn't a middle weight armor anymore. don't remeber if there was in oblivion but it was in morrowind and that was the perfect armor for me.
but the perk system is great that makes the game much more complex to me than oblivion was even with the loss of some other things.
i don't care about the glitches sure you see some of them but this world is huge it's not easy to program something like that. it's not like dragon age with a sterile world or even linear games without any freedom. and the glitches aren't gamebreaking so who cares?
skyim is the best game this gen for me. it was bioshock till now.
and for some "problems" which aren't problems for me there will be mods for the pc version. i mean everyone who know that he loves to do thousands of things in a game like skyrim but he won't get all of this should buy the pc version and then it's no problem anymore (after the mods will be out)

Yes I remember seeing those salmon jumping
Research shows Video games help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot
| pezus said: This game will be legendary with mods: upgraded graphics, more item classes (medium armor, short/long swords etc), new items, new enemies maybe? |
Absolutely. I plan to play 500 hours on console then a thousand hours on modded PC version later on when there are plenty of mods to choose from (and when i have better hardware).
Not sure if they can add new weapon and armor classes though because that would need new skills. They couldnt add new armor classes into Oblivion as far as I know.
But tons of new items, new enemies, difficulty tweaking of enemies, slower levelingrate etc.
