Can somebody sell me some of their free time? I don't have enough to play all the good games that are coming out these days.

when people say GOTY they normally mean critical game of the year or the televised vga game of the year, and in that defenition it will blow those two games out of the water though obviously many people will prefer dark souls or xenoblade to skyrim. Only batman arkham city and zelda really have a chance to beat it at this point in amount of GOTY awards.

I expected more 10's to be honest. It's a 95 at the moment (not taking the PS3 92 into account as it only has 7 reviews as opposed to 27 on the 360). Im guessing it will settle around 93-96. Overall it is possibly the strongest GOTY contender. But I believe Zelda will take the cake with Skyrim, followed by Portal 2, followed by Batman, followed by Uncharted 3 xP.

Although Portal 2's 95 will be very hard to beat. I wouldn't be surprised if there were ass holes out there who decided to be unique a lá gears and uncharted, by giving Skyrim a very low score xP: WE SHALL SEE!

It's between this and Zelda, but if you take an average of the score between all platforms, it'll likely end up below Zelda.

This will probably end up winning more awards (because it's multiplat and SS is a Wii exclusive), but it's possible that Skyward Sword is the 'better' game.

Regardless, both will be excellent, as well as UC3, Portal 2, Xenoblade etc.

What is going to set this game apart from its rivals isn't so much the quality which it obviously has, but quantity which the others are going to be hard pressed to touch. With the associated replay value that the series has been known to have with gamers. It is going to be a hard argument to make that a much shorter game with diminished replay value is somehow better.

I highly doubt those handing out awards are going to ignore the disparity. When Skyrim may offer up as much as say two hundred hours to gamers. Whereas Portal 2 clocks in at around twenty five, and Arkham City brings a bit over say thirty hours. Zelda may have more girth, but if the series is any indication you will probably have a total of sixty hours max, and replays don't do much to pad that either. Unlike games like Oblivion knowing what to do will really can the second or third play through of the game down dramatically.

As for Uncharted, Dark Souls, and Gears. I think their net performance in meta reviews kind of removes them out of contention. Even though two of them have more replay thinks to their online components. Anyway as that old saying goes quantity has a quality all its own.

It's definitely in the runnings for GOTY.
