I can't believe how much confusion this still creates. You'd think that by now a gaming journalists would have a pretty good idea of what a publisher means by sold.

it did? where you there at every check out, VGC has been off with numbers before you should know that, halo odst, PS3 HW the past two years during the fall time, COD BO PS3 and 360 last yr and many more

you think your some kinda big man with that comment? its certainly possible that it did reach 1M or within a 10% range of that, you know how many regions are in VGCs EMEAA, PS3 HW numbers have been always adjusted upwards there its certainly possible that the same will be done with UC3

My whole fail comment was on the basis that the guy was acting like we hadn't gotten FW numbers for UC3 when in fact we did.

And thinking that UC3 could ever sell 5 million in it's FW is ridiculous.

Apparently it did not sell 3.8 Million copies. Ship and Sales are two different things. Sony must had shipped as in send over 3.8 million copies of the game but only 1.09 sold. So basically only 1.09 million copies sold.

IGN has updated there page after talking to SONY and they can confirm that 3.8 million copies were sold to customers not shipped to retailers

Apparently some gaming journalists do. It's embarrassing how bad they are.

NeoGAF actually believes it as well. It's things like this that make me laugh at the supposed "prestige" that site garners from some people.

Despite some confusion this morning about whether the number represented units shipped or units sold, Sony has now confirmed to IGN that Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception sold 3.8 million copies worldwide on its first day in stores.

Nick Caplin, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's head of communications, said that "Uncharted 3 is a blockbuster and these incredible sales figures reflect that."

"Consumers are clearly as eager to play the game as critics were to heap praise upon it, and the team at Naughty Dog deserve this fantastic reception at retail," he added.
