Well we all know a new Zelda is in development but it would appear another Zelda product might also be on its way. A top down 3D recreation of a popular old Zelda title. Eiji Aonuma says that Miyamoto really wants to produce a classic Zelda title re-imagined in 3D for 3DS. Saying "Well actually, even Mr. Miyamoto himself has been talking recently about going back to the 2D Zelda games," adding "In particular the ones that were designed with multiple levels to the world like A Link to the Past, and taking those 2D graphics and recreating them in 3D so that you could get a sense for the depth of those worlds".

Aonuma doesn't confirm the game is actually in development leading most to believe he is not referring to the in development Zelda title for 3DS. Rather he says "That’s something that might be interesting to do, so I would say there might be a possibility of something like that in the future."

Would you be interested in a new top down classic Zelda game made in 3D for 3DS? Could Miyamoto really breath new life into the old format, could it be NewSuperMarioBros but for Zelda? What are your thoughts would this game sell you on buying a 3DS?

Interesting, but if it's a 3D remake of a classic Zelda title, I'd rather them not mess with those classics. A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game and it holds so many memories, that I don't want it touched.

Nice. Hopefully along the lines of LttP or maybe even Zelda2. That would be interesting.

I just hope they do something about those bugged controls and the lack of difficulty.

It should be on the Wii/Wii U instead of the 3DS.

aLttP is still my favorite Zelda title.

3D depth while in a birds eye view could be great. So as long as they don't mess with the core principles of the gameplay, or add anything too radical.
