Forums - Gaming - Infinity Ward Recycles Buildings on MW3 Straight From Cod4

Me and my friends played Call of Duty 4 and one of the highlights of the game was that building. We were hoping it would be in later Call of Duty games but it never happened. Last year, we started the online petition (www.bringbacktheshack.org) because we were fed up. We actually got 150,000 signatures.

What you see in Modern Warfare 3 is the culmination of our hard work, hopes, and dreams. Thank you, Infinity Ward. The shack is finally back!!

Once again proud to say I bought every copy of COD used, that is all!!

Tbh I don't mind COD and not sure if I'll purchase it later, but to be fair with you - this does not deserve to be a full retail release, after seeing a few videos other than some alternations to the gameplay - such as the collecting of dogtags to "confirm kill" and resetting killstreaks after you get them all, I really see no difference.

The stupid killstreaks still stack - so you can get the first and then the others by just sitting in the corner etc.

The weapons are practically the same with just different names, I saw UMP-45, SCAR-L or something, and M4 in the same game, 50 cal etc.

Really, nothing new here, except now newbs can feel sense of achievement when they achieve some killstreaks.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

The game takes place in the same exact timeframe. Of course there will be similar buildings. Have you guys ever left a house? The world is full of houses and buildings that look remarkably similar, especially warehouses and the bigger buildings. In fact, that same exact style of building is right down the street from me in a glass warehouse next to my grandfather's house.

What do you guys expect from yearly rehashed releases?

I didn't know releasing a game every two years meant your studio was releasing games yearly....

ALSO, MINOR SPOILERS

We should actually be really concerned about the London level, the turnstiles are all wrong, the tunells aren't right, the placement of civilians makes no sense, the time of day makes no sense and most of all WHY ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT PICADILLY LINE TRAINS TO COCKFOSTERS!

I'm not sure why this is a big deal...

It's not the building that's the problem, it's the theory behind it thats the issue.

It wasn't bad enought that the lazy bastards use the same engine and modes and storyline and maps (rearanged), they actually take a building from a game that is from the start of this gen.

You are aware that this isn't the first time this has ever happened in a game right? I believe they call these things easter eggs.

Exactly what I was thinking, if a familiar object from one game you really like was added to another game then you would be like cool I remember this, now I can use it to my advantage. I love Cod4 so seeing this in the game would have been cool.
I don't see what the fuss is, people jump too fast to hate on cod.

While I'd love to bag on COD and take the excellent opportunity to demonstrate the awesomeness of BF3 over MW3, this just is so much of not an issue I really can't get up the effort to create such a flame bait troll post.

Funny how this is a big deal. I guess its just because the new CoD releases every year and most see them as so similar (same base engines) that its a waste of money to buy what probably should be expansion packs/mods vs full retail games. However, they are ignoring the mostly new story lines in single player and the typically minor changes to gameplay, visuals, and human accessories (guns and shit).

However, there is one benefit to this partially copy/paste technique... you don't have as many bugs and issues out gate as the code base is more mature and battle tested. :)
