also i would like to discuss another point.

Blue ray adoption vs dvd adoption is a huge difference. The real DVD was highly adopted was because of vhs sucked, DVD had ALOT more features to it, you could jump/skip to anything you wanted, smaller etc. Blue ray only looks, possibly contains more features, and sounds better. To alot of people that could be something important, but to a majority of people it wont.

We all see how many people love youtube, and thats VHS quality. Not everyone has to have HD like gamers.

My point is that yes BR will take over, but it wont be like DVD and its sells will be dipped into by Downloadable content

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Well said kber81...

Digital Distribution is a viable and probably the most optimal solution when it comes to media rentals. It's already slowly becoming the new standard.

In terms of actual media distribution, it's not going to happen. Besides the fact that people want to own physical proof of their purchase, bandwidth and storage are a long way from delivering and storing multiple audovisual files at such a resolution and quality featured on a Blu-ray disc.

Not to mention that cutting out brick and mortar stores has larger consequences than one might think.

downloads = DRM because sharing = a big no no

IMO, That's just bullshit propaganda the big corps want you to believe.

Just question yourself, are you buying when you can just download?

And if you're downloading, are you going to buy it in the first place?

i think you misunderstood me. i personally dont care about whether it's right or wrong. but the 'big corps' care about their money. so if downloads become the "main media", so will drm. that's why i think it's a bad idea, drm just basically means you can't 'own' what you actually download.

 take warhawk for example.

if you purchase the download version, the only time you can use it is if you sign into your own profile on your ps3, and if you decide to sign into another persons ps3 with your profile and download it onto their ps3, you can only use it 24 hours after it was used on another ps3 using your profile only. the disc version lets you use it wherever, whenever. its basically saying "you paid for it, but we wont let you share it".

I cannot download stuff. I hate it, I need a tangeble product and I hope everyone else does too

i agree with needing tangible products. its the best way of saying " i own this game". downloads just say " i am allowed to play this game" same with movies.

downloads in my opinion are just going to make piracy soooo much easier. no more trading and pre-owned games either.

The CD business is in big trouble. Sales are down significantly. The ipod has gotten people used to the idea of not needing the physical media. It will only go downhill for CDs from here.

Do you have any research to back your opinion? Even if figures are on the way down I wouldn't call it trouble. I'm not saying there is no place for downloadable stuff, just it's for a different audience.

Just doing a quick search gives:

"In all, 23 percent of music sales were derived from digital purchases, Sisco said.

A report released in November by Jupiter Research LLC forecast digital music sales will continue to grow to $2.8 billion, comprising 34 percent of U.S. consumer spending on music in 2012."

ok so that tells us how much is taken from legal downloads, but if you include illegal downloads it would be massive.
