Forums - Gaming - Which are the games that I HAVE to own?

Im thinking about going on an internet auction shopping spree. Im looking for previous generations MUST HAVE AAA-games for the NES, SNES, N64 and GC. Im not looking for "pretty okay" games. Im looking for state of the art masterpieces!

Edit: Obeying Parokki I added a list with some of the games that I own, still play from time to time and consider AAA:

Edit2: Bold text for games I own, regular for suggested games.

Edit3: Please elaborate a little on WHY you think that the game you suggest is a must have game!

Think twice before helping a friend in need.

It would be easier if you edited your first post to include the games that you have, since looking for them in your profile is a pain. You are asking for our help here, after all.

Looking at your collection, I think you might enjoy the Viewtiful Joe and Pikmin games for the Gamecube. You have most the traditional Zelda/Mario/Metroid titles that Nintendo is most famous for, but these two franchises are completely different from anything else on the market. I recommend you look them up on Wikipedia and Youtube.

VJ is also from Capcom's former Team Clover, undoubtedly one of the best, yet least appreciated, dev teams of last gen. That alone makes it worth getting. =P

You need Goldeneye for N 64. Ditch Tomorrow Never Dies.

You should definitely add Resident Evil (1) remake for Gamecube. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Beyond Good and Evil are must haves as well imo.

Other suggestions:

DKC 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (SNES)
Secret of Mana (SNES)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
GoldenEye (N64)
Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64)
Skies of Arcadia (GC)

Edit: Reasons:

RE 1 is the 1st game of this amazing series and sets the standard. The game is creepy and very tough, ammo is very restricted as are save possibilities which makes this Survival Horror definition "hardcore to the max". The story development is great as well. And of course: shooting zombies!

Fire Emblem: Best Strategy RPG around. Very tough as well. Once characters die they'll never return. Storyline is amazing, characters very well developed.

Beyond Good and Evil: With Eternal Darkness and Okami probably the most underestimated (saleswise) game ever. Zelda-like gameplay, compelling main characters and a great story. Lots of humour in this game as well.

Thanks for your replies!

Ive heard a lot about the Pikmin games, same with the Viewtiful Joe games, I havnt tried any of them though.

I guess I should get Beyond Good and Evil, Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Symphonia, they all look like nice games - maybe too time consuming but nice, maybe work and studies have to stand aside for gaming for a year or two :)

you should get a PSone/PS2. you can get one for cheap and they have better games than Nintendo has.
