yeah, a friend of mine got Deus Ex, and told me how awesome the stealthy way was and all.. and i wondered if he wouldnt be happy to play a bit MGS4 when sneaking and good stories are his thing.. but there is one major problem. He did never play previous MGS title's. =/ .. and playing MGS1 as a newcomer, without any nostalgia, might be a bad idea to kick it off, preparing him for this game, no?

So yeah, he'd like to play MGS4 when i asked him about lending it to him, but yeah, how could he catch up on the story if not getting eyecancer by playing MGS1/2 and maybe Snake Eater?

Keep MGS4 as far away from him as possible. He'll laugh his ass off at the game's story, graphics, and load times. What you have to do is get him emotionally invested in the series. Then, like a battered housewife, he'll accept anything!

Wait until MGS HD (aka the "Good Metal Gear games") comes out. Get that and let him borrow it. He'll fall in love with the series and the Kojima's style. THEN AND ONLY THEN do you let him touch MGS4. He'll actually think that having Meryl hook up with Akiba in the middle of a battlefield is good storytelling.

Make him watch MGS1 cutscenes on youtube (or get him the PS1 game).

Oh wow, MGS4. I haven't even thought about that game for years.

There are some retrospectives online, but waiting for the MGS HD Collection would probably be best because even the best retrospectives don't cover obscure characters and subtle events and references.

this might actually be a great idea, combined with pursuading him to get the collection ^_^ .. i will definetly look for the story of MGS1 in Video format.
