They would make more money if not for their hatred of the X360.

This. It totally makes sense. I mean, the prime console for jrpgs is the 360, right?

I mean, they don't know what they're missing.

Metacritic... really? Then, allow me to return the favor. Please, do make way for my sarcasm.

Never pretended that PS3 was a jrpg holy ground either.

Think about it: if they didn't hate the 360 so much, you'd be able to play those fabulous NIS titles on your console!

I'm sure it takes a lot less than that to make people grind their teeth in frustration.

At least if NIS America had the decency to publish their titles for the X360, we could make up our minds about how fabulous they are, not to mention they could actually sell more of said fabulous titles. Think you only PS3 owners are entitled to buy crap?

Why yes; I believe that the PS3 has the perfect shitty exclusive to good exclusive ratio (about 5 to 1).

After all, a delicious meal can only be truly enjoyed after having eaten a couple bowls of shit.

Out of curiosity, do you honestly think they hate the 360?  because I've never considered that for things like Gust or that one Shmup company that seems to stick solely to 360.  I've always assumed that they just found a niche and a fanbase that was profitable and they wanted to stick to it instead of trying to expand and perhaps losing money.  Considering that most of their games sell small potatoes already and JRPGs on both consoles sell more on the PS3 it seems reasonable to think that they thought they couldn't get back their money from porting instead of them actively hating the console.

These guys are nuts imo. I wonder how they can sleep at night.

They probably lost all contact with reality:

- "Guys, we have this idea for a SHMUP that appeals to the very limited audience that is Japanese supernerds. How could we make it even more hardcore and challenging, so that we become the stuff of legends?"

- "How about developing it on the 360?"

- "Wait, that's stupid. Nobody owns one here in Japan"

- " I know, right? That's why it's so brilliant! These consoles are so hard to find that even huge nerds will have to shed their blood and tears in order to play our games!"

- " Dude, I think we're on top of a fucking gold mine. Let's call this Mike Kuro soft guy right away!"

- " It's 'Microsoft' ".

- " Sure. Just make the call ".

good news. glad somebody's making profit.

after THQ and Sonys losses i wasn't to sure anyone pub. would report profits

A lot of Japanes devs don't suffer especially small devs like Nis, Gust and Etc. because they got all their sales in Japan so I wouldn't be surprise if a lot of Japanese dev. is making profit unlike Sony where a lot of their sales comes from outside ( western countries ) Japan. The strong Yen against dollar and Euro are really hurting big companies in Japan which are export reliant. Sony also have a lot of bad things happen to them this year. Tsunami, the hack on PSN, The strong yen and the bad flood on Thailand.  http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2122106/sony-blames-thailand-floods-forecast-usd11bn-loss

Anyway, I am really glad that Nis is rebounding from their lossess a while back and I hope they keep this up.

yea real bad. if things go well Sony could have a good yr. next yr. although i wonder how there music and movie divisions are doing? maybe Sony should start developing JRPG's releasing them in Japan first. i'm sure theres allot Sony could change to become profitable in the short and long run.

Hmmm... never thought of it that way. Hatred was a rather poor choice of word, so you may have a point. Dislike seems to fit the bill more, I'd wager. It's still very strange Nippon Ichi would ignore the X360 (on the largest market worldwide) after publicly stating they had several projects on the works with said console in mind, and then giving them the axe. All this while offering something for virtually everybody else. At least Cave (who reportedly has about 80 employees) is going iOS, Windows Phone and presumably the PSVita (despite rumors of how their relationship with SONY soured at the end of the PS2 cycle). They've stated on several occasions how cost-prohibitive it would be for them to develop for the specific CBEA that the PS3 uses. So it's not hatred, it's economics. Economics, mind you, in which M$ has been an extremely supportive and accomodating business partner of Cave since the beginning of their relationship.

On the other hand, NIS America announced a couple of years ago, alongside several other projects that mysteriously vanished, the release of Cross Edge Dash. They paraded it in front of us X360 fans, just so that we could get a whiff, or salivate over what was to come, and then, without even so much as an explanation (some NIS America staff apparently were unaware of the Cross Edge Dash cancellation), killed the project altogether. Since then, no single IP for the X360. Not a single one in it's six-year existence. So in closing, it might not be hatred, but it sure is not love. This time around, a little love might make them a lot more money.

They surely lost at least one sale from keeping it Sony exclusive.

Gee, I guess porting games happens magically now -- AND it's FREE. Would you believe?

Seriously, what gives? If you can't break even, it's not even worth thinking about porting a game.

You're reading too much into it.

It simply means that they'd sell more if they put it on multiplat.

They certainly would, but it`s absolutely meaningless.

I think that by 'sell more', he meant they would make more money. Nippon Ichi would also be broadening their fan base. That is certainly not meaningless.
