Forums - PC - EA's Origin service is rotten to the core.

Not only do they pry into your information on the harddrive (can you imagine having to let someone see everything you own simply to be allowed to play a game?!) but the service itself is useless. The interface and menu system makes no sense and makes Resident Evil 5's inverntory system a joy in comparison.

I'm playing, or should I say trying to play, Battlefield 3 nowadays. So far today I've had five game crashes/freezes, timed out from five servers costing me thousands of points and a combined total of somewhere around and hour-and a half of wasted gameplay with no reward. Sometimes the browser service stops working and "technical issue" signs pop up, other times the game launcher itself simply freezes so you never enter the game, but most of the time its either the game crashing mid-session or server timeouts.

My PC is brand new and has all appropriate drivers and I have 20-30 other games installed (also other DX11 games) that run perfectly fine, most through Steam but also a few I have on disc.

Battlefield 3 is a fantastic game, one of the best I've ever played but EA keeps sabotaging DICE's work by providing a shitty service that ruins the experience. I've never been a big EA fan but now I'm quite certain; I officially hate the buggers.

Anyone else experiencing the same shit I am? My roommate has the exact same problems, as do my other friends who have the game. There are also reportedly problems on the console versions.

Hello. Welcome to the world of DRM. Vote with your wallet.

I can't possibly imagine that this service will ever compete with Steam. There is not a single thing about it that is good and BF3 and the new Star Wars MMO won't carry the store alone. What they hell are they thinking?

Got tossed out of a server again after having had trouble connecting at all for an hour. Lost another 3000 points. And now the servers are fucked again, "could not connect something something EA backend".

Yeah, EA's backend, that's what the problem is...

I'm not paying more than 5$ for any game that uses Orgin ever.
What I saw in it during BF3 beta is enough to make me a steam fanboy for the rest of my life ;)

Their forums are full of compaints, apparently everyone is experiencing the same issues and they have been there since launch and even in Beta and are still not fixed.
Origin is by far the most broken thing I have ever tried. If the game wasn't any good then I wouldn't care but its flippin awesome and I want to play it!!
If only it was on Steam...

"EA is EVIL! , they waste their time watching me ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL DAY out of all the people in the world looking like a hobo in front of a screen playing games... OH THE HUMANITY!! i shall occupy WALL STREET!"

In Germany, people are pretty angry about EA and Origin right now too.

This is such a shame. I enjoyed the beta and all, but this is ridiculous.

Hmm....I doubt Activision would let something like that happen.

You have to agree to let them spy on you in order to even be allowed to play the digital copies of their games is kind of... stupid at least? Not to mention its illegal in Europe. I wouldn't say they're evil exactly but surely incompetent and somewhat unfair. And its not like they're just lookig into the files of nerds who play all day, what if someone uses the family computer? They can dig up stuff on the entire family. I think its atrocious. Remember all the fire and brimstone around the Sony rootkits? This is far, far worse.

Also, I'm not known as a whiner in here or anywhere else and I don't complain unless there's a reason and the whole BF3 Origin farce is getting completely ridiculous now. The entire game has been virtually unplayable for two days straights and before the weekend and the devs haven't fixed a single thing in over a week.
