Forums - Sony - U.S./Europe Vita launch was pushed to 2012 due to demand

'Partly' i.e. not really related to high demand at all. And regardless, it's a dumb move to launch Vita outside of the holidays. They'll have high demand for launch and a few weeks after, but then they'll have like 8 months of slow sales just like the 3DS had.

They may not have 3DS like sales if the games are there.

Around the Network

More likely that the companies producing the quadcore PowerVR gpu and A9 ARM processors can't handle the demand and Sony not paying them enough to give them the components first.. others need them for smartphones and tablets

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

"due to demand"

Haha nicely done

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

You mean due to LACK of demand lol!

If there was a much higher than anticipated demand for the Vita handheld, Sony would want to launch it in time for the holidays to create a frenzy around it and make it the "must have" holiday gift, and that momentum would continue well on into next year much like what happened with Nintendo and the Wii's launch.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

...

If it lacked demand it would have made a world wide pre-Christmas launch

...This device was supposed to be released this side of Christmas but things changed, Koller said that the PS Vita was delayed purely because of pre-order demands, in a nutshell Sony would not be able to produce that amount before the holidays...
