You mean due to LACK of demand lol!
If there was a much higher than anticipated demand for the Vita handheld, Sony would want to launch it in time for the holidays to create a frenzy around it and make it the "must have" holiday gift, and that momentum would continue well on into next year much like what happened with Nintendo and the Wii's launch.
