I personally thought this was brilliant and he makes so many fantastic points that it will indeed likely make a lot of individuals upset.  Why?  Because it goes against what it is commonly accepted.  Anyway, where do you fall?  And please divorce your feelings for UC3 and his review (which I didn't read or watch) from this if you are mature enough to do such, as it's irrelevant to the bigger picture.

I think it's hilarious that there's an option to rate this video.

All this drama over one review

Upset fanboys should just get over it

I agree with him. This number system isn't working. It hurts more than it helps and it separates us. We are competitive by nature, ESPECIALLY when it comes to exclusives. I admit I sometimes question or may curse out a certain site for a low review. However, I always come to the conclusion that most reviews are subjective, opinion-based for the most part, so I try to accept their perspective on the game and just play the damn game you know? Hell, I'll rate my own games.

"Trick shot? The trick is NOT to get shot." - Lucian

I like to think of myself as above all of this. I'm a grown man and I can get whatever I want. Sometimes, I just find myself hating on a certain population because they seem overly smug. At some point, I've hated on Nintendo, Sega, Microsoft, and Sony--simply because the fans of a particular company were being a bit too vocal with their praise.

I don't really care about scores anymore. I tend to know what I want and I've really enjoyed some 5/10 games to the point where I can replay them over and over again. At the same time, I've gotten some 9/10 games that I couldn't bring myself to play halfway through. I've been at this long enough so I can already see what reviews a game will get long before the game is released, too.

What I agree with the most is when The Sess says that we don't need numerical values. Imagine if art critics were to compare a DaVinci painting to a Van Gogh (Mona Lisa is a 9.5/10). It makes no sense--but we've come to accept this. Back in the 80's, I read Gamepro Magazine and another mag called Game Players. At the time, Gamepro didn't provide a ratings system. It just told the good and the bad about a game and based on that, I decided if it was a game that I wanted. It wasn't until somewhere near the launch of the Snes that they switched to a ratings system (a bunch of smiley faces). I instantly used this system to try to prove to my Genesis owning friends that Castlevania III (Nes) or Joe and Mac (Snes) was something they should be jealous of.

Instead of taking a game at its own merits and our own personal tastes, we've allowed ourselves to fall into this whole thing. Who has the higher score based on some other guy's opinion? Which game has the best sales? Which game has the best graphics based on some arbitrary graphics scale? I'm sick of it. I know what I like and I know what I want. I don't think I'm going to play the "My game is better than your game because" pawn anymore. I think I'm going to go back to basics.

There is?  Since when does "agree/disagree" = a rating or score???

Directly under the video, it implores you to rate this video out of five stars.

As far as agree/disagree, I think he has a point but so did everyone else who has made the exact same point about the overemphasis on Metascores over the past few years. And most of those people didn't have Adam Sessler's insufferable demeanor.

Well, he's paid to give a number to rate the game, so yeah :P

Yeah, I hate numbers too, as there are plenty of games that I've liked that have received low scores (anything Dynasty Warriors-esque pretty much), while there are some games that received high scores that I didn't like. They do nothing but fuel rage and constant complaints from fanboys if their precious game receives anything lower than an 11/10, and it gets quite annoying. Sites and magazines should just list the good things and bad things about a game, then that would be it; no scores at all.
