Forums - Gaming - Just Cause 3 set for 2012?

CVG

That's according to the latest issue of Xbox World magazine, which states in its latest rumour section: "Our spies say devs Avalanche are hard at work as we speak, and that it's set for release next year."

Back in 2010, fresh from celebrating Just Cause 2's chart-topping UK debut, Avalanche studio head Christofer Sundberg said the Swedish developer was keen on creating a third instalment in the series.

"We are absolutely interested in working with the Just Cause IP again," he said, adding that fans "shouldn't be surprised" to see a follow-up to the second game.

Do I smell another Red Faction Armageddon like flop? Its too early to tell, but if the game doesn't change in many ways it will be. Just Cause 2 was neat but already it got old half way through the game.

It was really intersting game, but ya, it can get old fast. Namely if you do like destroying everything. They need to Saints Row The Third the game, make it overtop as hell.

Well Volition is strange to be honest. Guerilla had this really awesome idea, it delivered ok, not really great, but was ok, armageddon is completely different, why do they do that? save developement costs???

Red Faction 1 was SO GREAT! second was cool, but did not have the atmosphere, why did they even change, really they think they can mess around with a franchise like they want to.

On the other hand Just cause 2 was kinda great, it really had things to improve to be honest, but if they concentrate on the things that made the game great, why wouldn't it be greater than 2? its the same but way better, I WANT THAT! :D deliver just cause 3!!!

Awesome, Just Cause 2 was super fun.

Please, god, let it be so.

If they concentrate on making the good things better and improve on the bad things, it will be gold to me.

I loved the size of the world, as well as zipping around with the grappling hook and parachute, although the one DLC parachute with the jets should be standard. They should increase the size of the world, and add a lot more variety in missions and stuff to do.

Increase the size? Nahh I'd say keep a similar size but just put more sand in the sandbox. And how awesome would online be? (think gta4 style online)

Just fix the problems 2 had and this is a day one buy

Online/split-screen co-op would be amazing.  One of the fun things to do was using the grappling hook to take out cars chasing you, but there were only a few opportunities to do this in the game.  Also make the grappling hook like the one from the bolo patch (multiple hooks, won't snap, etc).  At least make it some sort of unlockable.  GTA style cheats would be nice too.  Change your wanted level, weather, flying cars, aggressive drivers, etc.  Some more extreme weather could be interesting.  Tornadoes, hurricanes, tidal waves....actually, random events in general.  Also some sort of city/place full of destructible objects that respawn.  Also trains.

Something equivalent to the sandbox program that comes Crysis.  Being able to spawn a bunch of stuff and then get in game immediately would be pretty awesome.

Oh, and what andrespetmonkey said.  More sand!  Tons of fun driving around in the desert areas, but the forested areas pretty much had you confined to the roads.

@Disolitude
Kind of weird to say Just Cause needs to change in many ways considering one of the reasons for Armageddon bombing was the huge departure from Guerilla.
