Forums - Nintendo - Wii Player's Choice

Does anyone have any idea when Nintendo will begin dropping the msrp on select titles?  And when did Microsoft begin their Platinum series?

Any ideas what titles might be included in the first wave?

Whenever the titles stop selling, which won't be for a while. Maybe in a year or 2.

Nintendo still doomed?

It's hardly a long shot to guess that all of the current million seller titles for the Wii will eventually become Player's Choice games (except Wii Sports and Wii Play, for overly obvious reasons). Beyond them, nothing's certain.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

Don't count on it being anytime soon with those games still selling. Probably in 1 or 2 years.

Bet with OriGin: Within 1 year Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be ahead of Mario Kart Wii (when aligning the one whole year from each region). 2 week ban from Vgchartz for the loser. Edit: Darn! Looks like OriGin will win.

I can't wait another year for Player's Choice games =(. I need lower prices because I sure as hell am not spending $50 on Wario Ware and Trauma Center. Come on, Nintendo!

They already have. Far cry was the first to have it's price dropped and only took a few months...

Elebits is only $29.99 and correct me if I am wrong but I think it was originally $49.99.

Lots of other titles have dropped in price too.

or are you only talking about 1st party titles?

jlauro, those are just price-drops. Player's Choice titles are like the PlayStation Greatest Hits and X Box Platinum games. Player's Choice is for titles that sell well, it extends their shelf life(theoretically at least) by offering popular titles at a discount price. I've saw some places, like a local Best Buy, set aside a sizable amount of shelf space for Platinum and Greatest Hits titles. In my mind having a GH/Platinum/PC line-up is a good way to move software if things like that can happen. This is different than shovelware like Far Cry sitting on shelves and not selling, thus requiring a price-drop.

Nintendo's launch line-up continues to sell well even a year later, so they may not need to launch the PC line-up yet. Still, it would be nice if they would throw third party's a bone and start the PC line-up with some games like Red Steel and Sonic.

"I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself."

I was thinking this just recently, would help drive Z:TP sales.

I guess I'm really referring to when they put a little band at the top of the box that signifies them as a "greatest hits" collection.  The average price of the games in this collection is $20.  Right now the 360 has been getting a software boost from just such a pricing tier.  I can only think that the same would be true for Nintendo, especially considering its more casual, finicky demographic.  Games like Excitetruck, Elebits and Super Monkey Ball could really use a boost and probably would grow some legs at the $20 price point.

Ok... Now that I understand...

My predictions is 6 months after the wii stops being out of stock everywhere in America...
