Who cares? Go away Square. As long as namco gives me a new Baten Kaitos and you can keep FFXIII.

I here that Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean is a good game according to Gamerankings.com

The sequel was not that good, but this series is starting to build up, espically sense Monolith Soft is the developer.

Though I haven't played it yet, from what I hear, the sequel actually fixes some of the major issues with the first game. Namely, the horrid voice acting and balance issues.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Well I don't understand how the sequel your talking about that fixes the horrid issues: Baten Kaitos Origins scored lower than the first.

Namco is the publisher.  Tri-crescendo really did most of the development, although I'm sure if they made a sequel they could get Nintendo to lend them Monolith for the parts they did.  Honestly I liked BKO just as well as BK.  Both are great games and I enjoyed them much more than FFX and FFXII last generation.  Technically my favorite RPG last gen was DQVIII though... and I don't really expect another DQ this gen after DQIX, which I can't wait for.

Gamerankings is a reflection of reviewer opinion, and not necessarily game quality.  A lot of people liked BKO just as well or better than BK.

But it can affect the hardcore crowd from picking up the game.

It can, but it rarely does.  Look at Assassin's Creed.  Baten Kaitos is a niche RPG, and it will never experience stellar sales.  However, it's got a loyal cult following and many really like the series.  It's in my top 5 RPG series of all time actually.

I agree dude, FFX, FFXII and DQVIII were the best RPG's last gen on the PS2.

I would like to see DQ back on the consoles, but they are putting DQIX on the Nintendo DS. Which I really don't follow handhelds.

Well Assassin's Creed achieved a 83% which is sub-par but an good game in many aspects. I haven't played it yet, but its on my must-have list.

I could say the same about Lair, which had awful reviews but generated a decent following.

There is a line of thought that the series went downhill after XI.

Of course I wouldnt really know as I am not a big fan of the series.

I would have to disagree with your statment...

According to Gamerankings.com, Final Fantasy XII achieved an average 91% versus Final Fantasy XI 85%. Its small difference but according to VGChartz, Final Fantasy XII sold 5 million as opposed to the original Final Fantasy XI 150,000 copies.

Check this for the sales comparison: http://vgchartz.com/games/index.php?name=Final+Fantasy+&console=PS2&publisher=&genre=&keyword=&order=Last+Updated

If you were to include all the expansions then it might have come close to Final Fantasy XII sales-wise.

Oops, I started a quote train with a mistake. I meant VI, not XI.
