I here that Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean is a good game according to Gamerankings.com The sequel was not that good, but this series is starting to build up, espically sense Monolith Soft is the developer. |
Though I haven't played it yet, from what I hear, the sequel actually fixes some of the major issues with the first game. Namely, the horrid voice acting and balance issues. |

Gamerankings is a reflection of reviewer opinion, and not necessarily game quality. A lot of people liked BKO just as well or better than BK. |

It can, but it rarely does. Look at Assassin's Creed. Baten Kaitos is a niche RPG, and it will never experience stellar sales. However, it's got a loyal cult following and many really like the series. It's in my top 5 RPG series of all time actually. |
Well Assassin's Creed achieved a 83% which is sub-par but an good game in many aspects. I haven't played it yet, but its on my must-have list.
I could say the same about Lair, which had awful reviews but generated a decent following.
