I think they're just using Spyro for this game, since people recognize him, but it's not really a new game for him. Spyro looks horrible and they should just let him rest in peace.

This trailer was on E3 2011 ? haha, no wonder no one heard about it ever since, its utter shit.
I don't think the redesign looked that bad. They're clearly trying to utterly relaunch the brand with more focus on these other characters other than Spyro, but it seems like a solid game for kids in the mascot-ish vein
The issue being that the old Spyro games were perfectly suitable for kids while not being childishly obnoxious, as is the case with this one

they did the same thing with Crash Bandicoot and it didn't work, BTW he looks kinda generic now and not so heroic as before damn I loved that first two games.

Doesn't this game require you to buy actual toys to like "scan" or whatever yo play as more characters?
