It also can bring out the worse. Notice Ndamukong Suh cheaply stomping on player or about 1 billion more instances I can bring up. Sports are fun to play but I have become more unattached to professional sports as the years go by. I would say the whole free agents and not sticking to a team gets me more than anything. Sure I understand there is a need for free agents but it was hell of a lot easier back in the day to know who was on your team since there were less trades. Also, I'd argue that obsession with sports can lead to major distractions of other important events. Sports are top news (especially Super Bowl) when there is so much more going on this planet than a stupid game. I found that it is just too frustrating rooting for your team during the down years. It just seems pointless and retarded. I basically gave up on college football last year due to Texas Tech sucking.
