Im talking about HL2 on pc.

Simple answer : NO . Will Wii have some games at the end of its life , like Far Cry Instincts Predator on the 360 ... yep , thats more than probable ...

Why are so many of you so disillusioned.

This gen has barely stared, we are only scratching the surface of what any of these consoles are capable of.

PS2 is far inferior to the Wii in terms of hardware, yet you think the Wii can barely do graphics that the PS2 did with FFX or FFXII? That's just stupid.

CoD4 graphics are nice as are Gears of War. But they are not optimized or condensed. Given a couple of years and as 3rd parties and Nintendo start to push the limits we will see these type of graphics on the Wii. However, at that point 360/PS3 exclusives will be amazingly realistic and detailed due to 720p and higher resolutions.

The wii is closer to the power of the xbox then the 360/PS3, so its games will look more like xbox games then 360/PS3 games, MP3 looks more like halo2 then Halo3, now that should tell you how the systems stand. The original xbox had some great looking games if you ever owned one then you would know, if you never did then the wii owners will have plenty of great looking games to look forward to.

The answer is obviously no. It is not technically possible for the wii to have graphics anywhere near the quality of COD4. The difference in pixel-pushing power between the wii and the PS360 is far, FAR greater than that between PS2 and Wii.

You won't even see as big a leap between early wii games and late wii games as you did with the PS2. Like it's successor, the PS3, the PS2 embodied a "performance over programmability" ethos, and it therefore took many years for programmers to take advantage of its complex architecture. In hardware terms, the wii is very similar to the gamecube, so expect to see similar graphical advancements between games at the start and end of the generation as you did with the GC.

I don't think Wii will be able to quite match the graphics of COD4, however I do think the surface of Wii's graphical capabilities has barely been scratched. I suspect it'll do much better and prettier than SMG. Much. All it needs is developers willing to invest the time and resources. Hopefully they will. They should. Graphics on Xbox360 and PS3 are far more complex and they make those too.

this is the stupidest post i have ever read. NO Wii CANNOT and WILL NOT look any better then the gamecube at MAX. what do u think nintendo is giving us crap because they havent "found" the power of the wii? NO WAY. its NOT HD and its a LITTLE stronger then the GC at MAX power.... how are you people even comparing have you ever played 360/ps3 vs the wii?

On the PC?  Well Orangebox runs on my underpowered laptop and Wii easily trumps that.  But if your talking high end gaming PC then x360 and PS3 are already outgunned on that front too.  You can't compare PC to consoles as there'll always be more powerful PCs.

@ Chunk: we aren't debating if Wii will ever match PS360 graphics at the same point in their lives--we're just conjecturing if highly optimized code in a few years could put it about on par with CoD 4 right now, which is unoptimized.

@ Played_Out: That's still quite a significant difference. Think about the difference between, say, Rogue Squadron 2 or Luigi's Mansion, and RE4 or Twilight Princess.
