Docomo is the PS Vita's official 3G carrier in Japan, offering two plans: a prepaid 20 hour plan and a 100 hour plan.

To protect underage gamers, the PS Vita's default settings do not allow access to "unsuitable sites" through the 3G Vita's Prepaid Folder.

According to an official NTT Docomo release, those who wish to have unrestricted access must take their Docomo UIM card as well as photo identification (such as a driver's license) to their local Docomo shop.

Those under the age of 20, must have a signed letter of consent from a legal guardian.

It would be possible to access adult sites through wifi. Since wifi is scant in so much of the country, that is easier said than done.

Japanese netizens pointed out that this could lead to some awkward exchanges between game otaku and Docomo female clerks as well as pleading between middler schoolers and their moms.

Get the wifi version, people! Because the only real screwing you're going to see is the bill from Docomo.

I don't really see how it would be embarrassing; I doubt porn is the only thing restricted. You only have to ask for "unrestricted access," not "access to porn." It's not that different from the parental features currently in use on handhelds and consoles.

Never trust such filters that try to lump things together automatically. Perhaps I want to access a page that has some adult content but contains something I am interested in that is not porn and this could restrict my access to that website.

Meh. If I were the type to watch porn, I would download my porn to my PC and then copy what I want to the PSP/PSV memory card and watch portable porn that way. I would probably hide it in a file labeled "default programs" and use either Frostwire to find HD porn with their search engine or use Real Player Downloader to copy video directly from Spankwire or Youjizz. I only takes about two minutes to copy a gb of porn to a memory stick and that's more than enough. Then, I would watch it in my car when I drive home from work to get me in the mood for some sex followed by some Hamburger Helper and a session of Gears of War 3.....hypothetically, of course.
