What does Blu-Ray have to do with the amount of noise the 360 makes?  What does Blockbuster have to do with the amount of noise the 360 makes?  Enough with the trolling.  You love your PS3, that's great, we're all happy for you, now go watch watch a movie on it.  I'll play a game on my 360 because that's what most people buy videogame consoles for.  NPD even did a poll and found that 60% of PS3 owners didn't even know the console had a Blu-Ray player.

 I think it's because Blockbuster is apparently evil and has satanic rituals that cause the 360's DVD drive to be louder..................

Anyway, there is a valid question but a poor explanation from the original poster. I'm trying to find out if the whole post was some sort of recruiting message or something.

I just bought a new Arcade xbox 360, when I am not playing a game its quiet, while playing I would have to agree that its loud, but i dont have to adjust my volume like others. It has the benQ drive btw

I didn't mean all PS3's, only the 40 GB model. My friend has a 60 GB model and it does not make noise. I personally have never heard my 360 make a chainsaw like noise.

Hello, the Xbox 360 has a 12X DVD Drive spinning faster than the PS3 2X Blu-ray drive.

Dude its 12X vs. 2X...Please think logic or common sense before posting.

Everyone in this thread is right, its a troll thread.

I think the Warner Bros announcement and good sales of the PS3 last week has emboldened PS3 trolls.  Microsoft seriously needs to do something for the Xbox 360 to put them back in their place.

#2. You might have an older DVD drive. The first and second generation DVD drives were louder than the newest models (BenQ).

Either way, if the DVD drive is your only complaint about a video game system, I think you have some unresolved issues somewhere :-p

My 16x dvd burner is not as loud.

Well,if the ps3 runs quieter and doesn't have to run as fast as the xbox360 drive and still have the same loading time SONY has got better technology,PERIOD! OH YEAH,this post is about how loud the xbox360 runs,thank you. WOW,PS3 hardware sales r catching up!
