TGS 2011: Tokyo Game Show Attendees Report that Monster Hunter 3G on 3DS Looks Worse than on Portable 3rd on PSP. Difficulty Lowered. Circle Pad Slippery

by Giuseppe Nelva (4 hours ago) 3

The open days of Tokyo Games Show have just ended, and the Japanese internet is already aflame with comments from attendees that aren’t exactly happy about the performance of fan favorite Monster Hunter 3G on the 3DS.

According to blogs like Koutetuoyako and several users on 2chan the graphics are less defined and more hazy than the visuals of the latest PSP counterpart (Monster Hunter Portable 3rd), and the difficulty has been lowered, probably to cater to the generally younger and more casual user base of the Nintendo 3DS.

On top of that, those that got their hands on the playable version on the show floor report that the “monstrous” circle pad attachment is too slippery due to the materials used.

Yeah, I'm not buying it.

EDIT: By buying it, I meant the comments, not the game

Looks pretty good, but I have to judge myself

The damage control begins.

Yeah, it looks a lot cleaner and smoother than P3rd, TBH, I bet most of those comment are BS.

By the way, this was posted in the comments: http://www.destructoid.com/these-monhun-tri-g-videos-look-great-2nd-nub-not-needed-211681.phtml

Wonder which one is correct.

Dragon Quest IX also had plenty of accusations of being too easy, breaking with the series' traditions and other negative things. It turned out that it was just bitter fans angry over the move to another platform.

There's no reason to believe that it is any different this time. There needs to be a better source than forum goers to make this believable.

Hahahaha, I remember those.

Quite frankly, the only negative point that DQIX had was the departure from the individual character roaster to a non-characteristic character class, so only the MC had it's own story (which made sense in DQIX's story), other than that it was a pretty amazing game, in a lot of aspects better than VIII.

I believe we should wait to see more before we go judging a game beforehand, especially since it's easy to damage the reputation of any game nowadays with the typical forum act "opinion = fact"

Current PC Build

CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"

None of that really concerns me as I assume a lot of that is based on opinion/maybe a bit biased, but the lower difficulty does kind tick me off. If there is one thing I like bout the series is that difficulty. I'm not sure how it is for others, but I have always found the MH games to be more difficulty than other games in it's genre. Granted I'm not the biggest MH fan out there, I've only played the PS2 and portable 3rd ( which I only spent about 5 hour into, was borrowed TT~TT). Still, I enjoyed getting my ass kicked and having to try a different tactic and what not. This is all assuming the difficulty was lower by a good amount, which I really hope not. I plan to buy a used 3DS when KH3D hits stores and I would like to grab this game as well so I'll keep my eyes on this one. Thanks for the info.

Sounds like damage control to me.

But I'll second the circle pad being slippery, didn't like the model in the game store.

Silly complaints. Of course the circle pads are slippery due to lack of dust from constant use.
