No I was referring to DQ a series you pointed out that influenced FF ,but note they didn't have FF the series they had FF7, why because after it came out to many and here I'm talking about mainly Western gamers who hadn't grown up on the older DQ / FF games ,and who in some cases found those games through FF7's success, it's popularity helped by it's huge media presence and the rise of the Playstation brand took it too heights on console at that time that a single JRPG hasn't seen since, it was hard as a gamer even if you weren't interested in it not to know about it, that is why I said (B) even though pokemon has higher sales some times it's as much about how a game resonates at it's peak.

So, are you saying that the game that topped 10 million in a nation with some 130m inhabitants altogether, enjoyed a $50 million ad campaign in the West whilst nearly replicating the same popularity and was pretty much the most popular any single video game (barring SMB, which was bundled) had ever been does not more than exceed those criteria? I'm sorry, but you would have to be very deluded to claim that FFVII was at any time more popular than the Pokemon phenomenon from 1997-1999 anywhere. During that time, it was hard to be a kid (you needn't be a gamer) and not know about it.
Yes, most of that is hyperbole, but I think you get my message, xD.
@RolStoppable - Technicality, :P. They all clearly have less selling power than the main games. You can't call them main games or you'd be judging them unfairly. I'm broadly classifying any Pokemon game with less than normal selling power as a spin-off. It's largely irrelevant to my point either way, though. I just said it to add to the effect there.
