Wah, Nintendo's cheap ways seriously. Wii was cheaply made I'll give you that. However even Wii had expensive new technology that cost alot of R&D to make. Even DS's hardware at the time was pretty high end. Also looking back at GameCube that console had some pretty heavy powered and well designed parts. N64 another high end console, Super NES cutting edge technology.
Nintendo has never been cheap, they have always been profitable but not cheap. I didn't believe the news that WiiU's controller was modified with a cheaper version. It doesn't sound like Nintendo to cut quality corners. Nintendo always releases high end products and I doubt that will ever change.
Also CryTek commenting shows that Nintendo's console will indeed have some power under the hood. I wonder what kind of game CryTek is developing or if they are just experimenting. I'm guessing they are planning a future cross platform title that will release on WiiU. I'm really hoping that CryTek's approval means other high end game developers will be on board.

I guess my point came off as somewhat trollish, but I didn't really mean it that way.
Nintendo aren't exactly "cheap" per se, but they seem cheap. Thats due to the fact that they invest most of their R&D and development budgets into unorthodox technology, in the case of Wii is motion controls, in the case of DS its the touch screen and in the case of 3DS its the glasses free 3D screen all of which were very new at their time (at least mass market new anyway). But the problem is that we tend to have the habit of associating cutting edge with mostly just graphics, so we tend to turn a blind eye towards Nintendo's innovative ways.
That said, Nintendo do have certain problems of not future-proofing themselves. We all know how hardware changes by the day, so its a staple for console manufacturers to have certain hardware requirements fulfilled to the very least. Nintendo sometimes tend to undercut those bare minimum in terms of graphics/online functionalities, etc to innovate in new aspects.
But I am happy that with Wii U Nintendo seem to at least seem to be raising the bar for graphics/functionalities while still innovating in their own way. We definitely need Nintendo's innovations.
