The question of specific Blu-ray's helping PS3 sales (Obviously not Star Wars cause it wasn't released then) was relevant in 2006,07, hmmm maybe even in 08. It's just not relevant in 2011. Consumers who are interested in Star Wars Blu-ray most likely already bought a cheap Blu-ray player by now. So to answer your question....No, it won't..

Yes but this is Star Wars - the series with (arguably) the most die-hard fanbase. Who will go to extreme to get to experience the ultimate variant of the series. And if these fans would be purchasing the Blu Ray player at this point, I'm sure that they will be having a look at the PS3.

My thoughts were along the maybe lines. I think it could give a small (or very small) boost.

If Star Wars fans want the best Star Wars experience they wouldn't buy these Blu-rays, and if they did, they would watch them on a better Blu-ray player than the PS3.

according to cnet.com the PS3 is the 3nd best blu-ray player out their, only recently getting passed up by the Oppo Blu-ray player. which so happens to cost more than $700.

time and time again, cnet raves about who the PS3 IS nearly the best bluray player. and now its $249, when cheap junky ones are still around $100. (for example i quick shearch of bestbuy.com, and you will find their cheapest most bare bones, feature lacking bluray player for $90, which is a sale price).

bluray players with comparable features and playback quality or more than 2x the cost. and they still arent videogame systems

CNet can say what they want, but fact is, solely judged on its Blu-ray capabalities, the PS3 is slow and clunky. I have a mid-range Blu-ray player from LG and it's much, much faster than the PS3.

what does clunky even mean.

sure the ps3 may be a bit slower than other bluray players, but what does that matter once youre watching a movie. "oh ps3 took 15 sec to load the movie ], my $120 bluray player loaded it in 10 sec, proof mines better".

when it comes to visual and sound quality, and features the ps3 is un-matched by 99.9% of bluray players, and when youu factor in price, and gaming, its in a league of it own. if you really want the best, if youre an audio and video-phile then you get a ps3.

so, what you said is still false, no matter how you put it

I understand that you're a PS3 fan, but an audio and video-phile will never get a PS3 because it's not top of the line, it's not even high-end. It's a mid-end Blu-ray player at best, and yes, it can play games, but you don't buy a Blu-ray player to play games on.

youre wrong, just wrong.

where did you even hear that?

cnet has had several articles talking about how the ps3 is the best/one of the best bluray players out there. it has won their best bluray player several times, and just last year they sad the Oppo player slightly edged out the ps3 in visual and audio performance, so they use that as their testing device, instead of the ps3, which they used for years because it was the best.

i will take cnets word over yours any day

I understand that, but CNet isn't exactly trustworthy when it comes to objective tech-analyses. But don't take my word for it: all these blu-ray players are better than the PS3.

Also, if you're deadset on taking CNet's side: check out this comparison chart: PS3 doesn't do too well on it.

really, cnet isnt trust worthy? where did you get that from?

they are probably the biggest tech site with the most audio and video phile out there.

and i would still trust them over that article (which likely just wasnt considering the ps3, perhaps for a variety of reason like gaming being its primary use)

cnet.com is the digitalfoundry of what they do. and since i dont have the disposable income to buy several high end bluray players, and test their audio and visual quality my self, i will take their word for it. and when it comes to features, all you have to do is compare
