Kung Fu Panda 2 got 75.2% of it's worldwide gross from overseas, so it's not surprising. 3 has already passed 2's China lifetime gross, let's see how it does from here.

Since it was co produced with a Chinese company there are little to no restrictions on it when it comes to the Chinese market it should have a pretty long theatrical run there.

Looks like Deadpool has a pretty good chance of becoming the highest grossing R rated domestic movie of all time.

Think it'll beat The Matrix Reloaded's $742M?

Edit: Saw that you said domestic. In that case, probably. But I always feel that people add the domestic part when they know that the movie won't be able to do it worldwide.

Well it will easily make more money domestically then The Matrix Reloaded so if it can get close to 50% of it revenue from overseas then it should be able to pass it world wide also.  With $150 million made domestically with Mondays estimates its already the 40th highest grossing R rated movie domestically and will be in the top 25 once Tuesdays numbers are revealed.

You're assuming that the movie will have long legs outside of the US there.

Doesn't really have to have long legs.  Also it really doesn't have any direct competion until the next Divergent movie and Badman Vs Superman come out more then a month from now.

I'm not sure that Deadpool's chance of being the highest grossing R rated movie worldwide is any lower than it is Domestic. It needs a 2.8 multiplier from its opening weekend, possible but not obvious. it had a great OS opening matching the Domestic opening with some markets left to open. It does have the problem of no China, but Matrix is still a very achievable goal.

It does need to have legs to be able to pass The Matrix Reloaded.
