Thank you.  I would guess an 8th is guaranteed then given how much profit they've already made on this one.  Was the actor who passed critical in a way that say a Johnny Depp is to the Pirates of the Caribbean films?

Not at all. Before his death his role was hardly considered more relevant than additional. Thank the media for making you believe otherwise though.

P.S. : Then again... you could place that statement next to any character name in the movie. The franchise is not about the characters... it's not about the story... it's just about giving you a mindless good time. Think about Call of Duty's singleplayer. Well.. the latest COD games' singleplayer anyway.

I didn't believe anything, was asking.  That being the case seals the deal that expect an 8th and 9th entry to be made.

Furious 7 is now only a couple of days away from passing Frozen's box office total. Plus when the next overseas number come in it should be the 3rd highest grossing movie overseas passing HP: Deadly Hallows Part 2. Plus the 8th installment was just announced a couple of days ago.

The movie might have actually overtaken the first Avengers if Age of Ultron wasn't releasing in a week.

Holy shit, Furious 7 is going to pass Harry Potter. I never thought that would ever happen.

I'd say it's more about China than anything else. If Harry Potter released now it would have probably have gotten at least $200 million more from China alone.

Not sure about that. Back in 2011 , DH2 was outgrossed by Transformers Dark of the Moon and Pirates of the Caribbean even though it was the franchise finale. It only did $60M or so. HP not that popular in China.

If you look at The Avengers that only did $86 million and Dark of the Moon did $165 million compared to Age of Extinction's $320 million. What both of the first two movies have in common with Harry Potter is that they didn't have distributors in China at the time, at least that's what Box Office Mojo says. Maybe $200 million is too much, but I do believe that it would have done much better if it was released in today's climate.

Age of Extinction had scenes filmed in China.. that was a very big factor for its incredible gross.
