Can Disney beat Universal's record 2015 domestic gross - $2.445 billion?

It will fall short of tha... 4 13.33%

Finding Dory, Doctor Stra... 20 66.67%

It's going to be very cl... 6 20.00%

Total:30

Four big movies coming out this Friday. Is it me or are there more movies to choose from these days..
So, which one will come out on top?
No doubt Elysium will come out on top.
Followed by Planes. We're the Millers look promising, and Percy Jackson looks not so promising.

It's difficult to tell with Planes. They are only projecting to get $60m total, but have already have a sequel in production.

The way The Smurfs 2 is starting off its going to have a hard time getting over $300 million world wide which isn't a bad thing since its not that good of a movie and the first one made more then it deserved.

Well 300 M should be no Problem for the smurfs 2. Even if it drop big this time. The first one make 420 M overseas.

The 400 M mark will be hard to knack this time ( i doubt it can do so much, i think it will have 350 M worldwide when all is said and done.

Disappointing for Elysium... Sony Pictures are having a troublesome year.

Another good horror movie hold for The Conjuring. It has passed $120M and is on its way to beat The Grudge. It will soon pass $200M worldwide as well, beating Paranormal Activity 3 ( $207M). It even has a chance at surpassing The Blair Witch Project's WW gross - $248M.

Meanwhile, Now You See Me II has been announced.

Catching Fire will be the top grosser of the rest of the year, and maybe even tops for the year.

I think it will hav a lot of people who skipped the original in theaters. But it could have a lot of competition from The Hobbit part 2. The rest have no chance. Harrison ford is not trustworthy. I doubt it will make budget in AMerica. Maybe World wide. Of course, there could be a surprise. DM2 surprised, The heat surprised, THe Conjuring surprised. Just not big enough.

Not sure that they are really competition for each other.  Hobbit is more of a niche(even though it will hit $250Mil +) and hits the male demo.  Where as Catching Fire is very broad in its demo.  Hobbit 1 dissapointed and i think 2 will as well - thus my $250 guess.  I think Catching Fire will hit $400 mil +.

Both FF6 and DM2 will end up making over $800 million world wide this has probably been Universals best year ever even with R.I.P.D. bombing and their remaining movies should all do pretty well Rush might not make a lot domestically but it should do pretty good overseas where F1 racing is more popular.

Watched Elysium last night on IMAX.
This movie will not match District 9. Maybe i was expecting too much, but it was not good.
The two stars were great, but that's about it.

The Butler did a lot more then I thought it would do not bad for a movie that is decent and not the big time Oscar contender that it was hyped up to be. Which is good news for Michael B Jordan he is still the front runner for the best actor Oscar.

Michael B Jordan is the lead actor in Fruitvale his previous best know work was as one of the main characters in Chronicle and as Wallace in The Wire.  Plus its rumored that he will be the main character in the Rocky spin off "Creed".
