Also the biggest big budget bomb of the summer is still The Lone Ranger. Pacific Rim is already Guillermo del Toro highest grossing movie world wide and it will still make enough domestically to surpass Blade II $82.3 million total.

Also the biggest big budget bomb of the summer is still The Lone Ranger. Pacific Rim is already Guillermo del Toro highest grossing movie world wide and it will still make enough domestically to surpass Blade II $82.3 million total.
If The Conjuring gets a sub-50% drop this weekend, it might even beat The Ring ($129M).
Passing 'The Grudge' ($110M) is already a given, which already makes it the highest-grossing horror movie in the last decade, and the 3rd highest-grossing for the 21st century. Beating 'The Ring' would place it on the second spot, behind 'What Lies Beneath' ($155M), but that movie is not actually horror,in my opinion, and it does not have an R rating like The Conjuring.
Smurf 2 is opening next Wednesday. Even though The To-Do List has a dumb premise with a $1.5 million production budget its pretty much guranteed to make money. An early Oscar contender Fruitvale Station should do very good since its expanding from 34 to 1,064 theaters.

Good point, when does it release in Japan and China? Hope they help it out as want it to do well.

Its a early Oscar front runner and The Weinstein Company has another contender coming out in less then a month when The Butler opens on the 16th next month. Fruitvale Station is pretty much the critics choice for best movie so far this year and that includes professional critics and amateur critics on YouTube and other sites.
August 9th in Japan (Japan usually gets all the major US releases the latest) and July 31th in China.
I want to see Fruitvale even though I already know about the story behind it and I will probably cry a lot so its probably better if I watch it at home or towards the end of its theatrical run because you have to man up in public.
Fruitvale Station and The Butler will do not-so-good for Oscar contenders. The biggest Oscar contenders, from a box office point of view, will be The Wolf of Wall Street and The Counselor later this year.
