No,he wasn't close,but that gross will do just fine for a non-sequel.

I was off by $15m I think.

The movie is a non-sequel but it's playing more llike a sequel.

Saturday's take will be about 15-20% off from Friday.

And ironman 3 has a chance to pass $400m.

Superman Returns had 270M $ budget

Man of Steel has 225M

Bryan Singer is a terrible director which destroys all he touches ...

Man of Steel should easily make twice as much money as Superman Returns maybe even a bit more if it has decent legs. Iron Man 3 should be passed the $400 million mark domestically with Monday's numbers.

One more day before Iron Man 3 makes $400 million now its legs are kinda weak should have did it a couple of days ago already.

I agree about Singer. Didn't he do Jack the giant slayer as well? Bomb!

Well its offically over $400 million now.  Even though I thought that Ted could have been a lot better I liked the part at the end when they made fun of Superman Returns.

Superman has no legs. down 71% in its second friday.
Monsters University got $31m on Friday. it'll get $85m for the weekend I think.

but the big news is World War Z - the zombie movie got $25m on Friday. That, I believe, is the biggest single day for Brad Pitt. Good job. But for the weekend, it'll be only about $60

first weekend to have three movies in the $60m?
or maybe first weekend to have three movies in the $50m?

Hollywood is having a great year. Leading the studios, in my opinion, is Buena Vista.
Monsters university is only their 3rd movie of the year and they have gone past $700m already.
and in two weeks, we get Depp.
Universal is having a great year too
Paramount, however, is having not so great year - compared to their past.

damn, and i was thinking man of steel had a rather large budget when i looked at it, how the hell did superman returns cost so much, was it the bullet scene? lol

If you look at the budgets Universal has the best year so far.  Oz really didn't make any money at the box office due to a large advertising budget plus I still think that The Lone Ranger could bomb big time.  All of Universal's movies have been box office successes so far plus they got the most profitable movie of the year so far since The Purge only had a budget of $3 million dollars.

I am very disappointed in Man of Steel... Things aren't looking that good for the Justice League movie. I guess it's too early to copy Marvel's success.
