Good news for Argo. Nothing against Taken 2 I'm sure its mildly entertaining but Argo is a much better movie.

Good news for Argo. Nothing against Taken 2 I'm sure its mildly entertaining but Argo is a much better movie.
It really doesn't need very strong legs it had a relatively small budget of $44.5 million. Plus it will get a late boost during awards season because it will get nominated for multiple awards. It also has a slow roll out overseas so its going to be until early December before there is a somewhat clear number on its numbers from foreign markets. Overall I think it will manage to make at least $125 million dollars world wide which will easily make it profitable just at the box office. Plus it will get a nice boost from being nominated and winning numerous cinematic awards both at the box office and once it hits the home market. As for the upcoming weekend Paranormal Activity 4 will take the top spot but Argo should hold on to the #2 spot ahead of Alex Cross.
| spurgeonryan said: I actually have high hopes for Alex Cross, even though Tyler perry is in it. |
Well its mediocre acorring to ratings on imdb currently at 5.1/10 and pretty bad when you look at the metascore 33/100.
I really wish they would have cast anyone other than Perry for Alex Cross.
I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.
Even though Alex Cross isn't that good the movie that won the weekend box office isn't better either. Even though Paranormal Activity is loosing some of its steam I'm pretty sure their are going to be at least four or five more movies. Its pretty much Paramount's biggest cash cow over the last four years.
| spurgeonryan said: Especially since even a gross of 10 million would make it worth it. 5 million budget is crazy! |
Since the first movie almost cost nothing to make the average budget for a Paranormal movie is still only a bit more then $3.25 million dollars.
Another weak box-office weekend coming up.
Argo on it's 3rd weekend could come in first.
Things will heat up next week with two decent movies, and 'Wreck it Ralph'. Been playing the game on my son's iphone! it's actually fun.
Go 'Wreck it Ralph'! $70m in first week!!!!!!

Hi, Are this gross just for overseas (outside US) right?
Switch!!!
@fedfed:
Yes, e.g. Ice Age 4 (= Ice Age: Continental Drift) is currently at
707 million "foreign" (which I think means all countries outside NA) plus
160 million "domestic" (which I think means US and Canada) =
867 million worldwide
