Forums - Microsoft - Strange Xbox 360 Problem

You have Problems with your PS3 and 360 at the same time ? Atleast you are lucky that your launch models lasted that long.

Haha yep. Within the span of a few days. Decided to go out and get one of the new Xbox 360 slims with the 250gig HDD. Next up will be to replace the PS3 with the Slim PS3.

RIP

  • Launch Xbox 360 with 20gig HDD. June 2006 - September 2011 [with 2 stops into Microsoft due to RROD]
  • Launch PS3 with 20gig HDD. December 2006 - September 2011 [no problems till now]

It was a good run launch units but it's time to replace them with the new slim units. May the old systems rest in peace.

That Was Left-Handed

Xbox Live: Spire VII

Playstation 3 Network: Spire_VII

Damn, I think this could be the first generation of consoles where it's almost guaranteed that the launch units won't make it past the generation's life-cycle.

I still have my launch SNES, N64 and GC consoles and they all work like new. Also have a PS2 circa 2003, a model 1 Saturn circa late '95, and a Dreamcast circa 2000 that all still work fine as well.

My 360 circa 2007 however got RROD a year later and I fear it may be on its last legs the way it's sounding today.  And my friend's PS3 60GB launch model died on him late last year.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

well that is true with almost all electronic now a day.... most PCs tank faster than they use to, most laptop don't last as long as they use to, and the best example is the cellphone industry this is ridiculous.... back in the 90's I could throw my nokia in the bath tube smash against the wall and it would still work now try that with any phone today....

this is due to miniaturisation of the components + more power.... you get less sturdy pieces with miniaturisation and higher power usually means higher temperatures.... so that combo makes the thing more powerfull and smaller but at the cost of longevity..... this is not surprising this a technical reality of things.... hence also why I'm not buying smartphones and certainly not apple stuff.....

Hmmm.. get an HDMI cable if it's just the screen that restarts, I guess. It's miles better anyway.

If it's the Xbox then I have no idea.

Launch consoles don't have HDMI.

Oh, wow, I didn't know that.

Then get a new Xbox, it's worth it.

HDMI isn't inherently better than component, just more convenient.

Given that HDMI maxes out @ 1080p and component does on 720p/1080i, HDMI is better.

You're misinformed.  Component does 1080p just the same.

Ummm, time to put the bullshit to bed. http://hdmivscomponent.com/

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Have I provided enough links to support the facts or shall I also mention my anecdotal experience with 1080p through component on my 360 and PS3?

Hello. I'm having a weird issue with my Xbox 360 that i haven't been able to find solutions for. During gaming sessions (and when i'm in the menu's or running something like Netflix) the Xbox shuts itself off and then reboots itself in 480i resolution. I'm running the Xbox via component cables for 720P on my HDTV and not sure why it reboots itself into 480i. Has anyone else experience this problem or have any ideas on how to fix it? I'm using an old 20gig launch Xbox 360 and i've double checked the video cables to make sure they're plugged all the way and that the cable is on the "HDTV" selection.

Not sure but they've had around 4  die shrinks on the CPU and maybe 2 on the GPU..Each die shrink means less power and less heat.. The newest Xbox 360's run so much quieter, but as important they use alot less power.. LIKE HALF the wattage of the original... but they are also way more reliable.. get one of those
