Forums - Gaming - Mass effect is the next Final fantasy

No.
And if you're talking about sales, the Mass Effect series wishes it had Final Fantasy's.

Well, they're both rpg so they're kinda similar but when i play them, i don't feel that they're similar.

Ororo Munroe aka Storm of gets another ongoing solo with writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and artist Jen Bartel.  Coming soon :)

I don't think so. Mass Effect is nothing like FF.

there are a lot of games that are more comparable to FF than ME.
to me Persona is becoming more loved by FF fans than FF.

So because Mass Effect will have games that follow seperate story lines within the same universe it's the same as a game that has thematical links but completely seperate universes?

what 2 mainline non MMO final fantasy games are set in the same universe?

FFIV, FFVII, FFVIII... oops I said three. Maybe it's not clear but the final fantasy universe is an evolving one, it changes through times but it is always the same.

And no, ME is not FF. FF sold millions without shooting and cheap love affaires.

Really? I always thought the series had a new universe every time with a few recurring elements, are you sure 6 7 and 9 are set in the same universe they are pretty different the planets/world maps look tottally different and their histories conflict...

not to mention the fact that FFVII was origonally going to be set in modern day New York city...

Without even going into why they are totally different, one factor really sticks out. Unlike Final Fantasy, Mass Effect has not been able to become a worldwide success. While ME is very popular in the west it has not made much of a dent in Japan. Of course it doesn't help that the platform it started out on is also a non factor in Japan.

So while it is theoretically possible that it may one day become more like FF, at this stage it's like comparing apples and oranges.

A series that began great, and is now rotting?

THAT IS MY LINE

No. The romance in ME2 sucks.
FFVIII and FFX FTW
