Nope, you have to switch discs to connect to the server and switch back to play the map.

Capcom means full of DLC/XYZ edition every year you sould know that |
so true, but i wonder if the cost to manufacture extra disc is absorbed by MS or does the dev have to give a little?? Im going with the former and chalk it up to Capcom nonsense

typically they are putting campain on one disc... and multiplayer on other.. this is the thing they are doing with HALO CE Anniversary |
Why do they need to do that for Halo CEA? Surely it's not bigger than Halo Reach and that all fit on one disc especially considering Halo CEA will only have 6 maps total for MP
ehh the advantage of blu ray is that you can put up to 50 gigs of storage without the extra cost for multiple discs and custom case. im pretty sure many people know that moving a few inches is not bad but the costs for extra discs is actually something. besides the extra scratch resistance is a neat feature.
Rage bothered me because it was a single player FPS.
RPGS are *OK* because in general once you get to that last disc you rarely have to swap back to the previous or first disc.
This is also OK because one will be single player, and the other multi.
Multi disc is not really that big of a deal.
It's just that simple.
Maybe the next xbox should feature a dvd storage compartment - put all multiple discs into the xbox at the same time and the xbox will internally switch discs from storage to dvd player at the touch of a button. lol.
Seriously, i dont see it as a big problem - like when people complain about the installation of discs on ps3 its not a big or time consuming issue so dont know why people complain. Dont see why 2 discs is surprising either - as a pretty big game with superb graphics it was bound to take up a lot of space.

Yeah, I am lazy but it is annoying and as I own a PS3 and 360 (for the record, around 90 PS3, 30 360 games) I will always choose to get the PS3 version of the game if it is on multiple discs, and we have different rooms clearly and I always keep my games in the cupboard and these chairs are a pain to get out of...
But yes laziness, but it is a little annoying
| Millenium said: Seriously with a disc size of 50 GB, is anyone really is supposed to be amazed no games have had to use more than 1 disc yet? Oh inbefore 'you a jealous xbox owner', i also own a PS3. |
Why be jealous ? Unknown to many PS3 owners ( notice - i didnt say 'all' PS3 owners ).. some of the most popular selling bluray games dont use any more space then a standard Xbox Dual layer DVD ( a dual layer DVD hold roughly 9.4 Gigs - although Xbox compression has supposedly added alittle more ) - Looking at popular multiplatform titles - alot of DVD games dont even use the full DVD ! For MOST games - 9 GIGs is alot of data for the core game; This is why most games can ship with both the CAMPAIGN AND MULTIPLAYER game on one DVD disc ! A perfect example are best selling PS3/ XB 360 multi-platform titles .. COD black Ops,.. or... Fable 2... or... Red Dead Redemption.. or Oblivion...GTA IV... Mass Effect 2... The 'core games' are usually no bigger on the PS3 disc then on the Xbox 360 ... the PS3 versions of the 'core' game itself will fit on a DVD.. ..but the PS3 versions of these same games often take more space... why?? First, for the PS3 bluray versions of the same game - extra space is taken by UNCOMPRESSED 7.1 digital surround sound on the bluray version for those who can enjoy 7.1 audio gaming ( the Xbox 360 will only do 5.1 audio - since only 5.1 would fit on a DVD - although many audiophiles DO agree its hard to tell the difference between 7.1 versus 5.1 ..And in gaming even harder because gunshots and typical game sounds just don't sound much different and the majority of 'directional' sound is through 4 speakers anyways.. ) ...Keep in mind UNCOMPRESSED 7.1 can take up several gigs of data by itself.... Secondly , Sony fits all the regional data on one disc .. for those who dont understand: DVD games have different data 'per region'. The core game on the DVD disc is the same, but everything else is different - depending on what country it ships to. ..The Japanese version has its own audio language, cut aways, and subtitles, and even music might be different for cultural reasons... The The German version the same.. With Bluray they ship one disc that has many different countries and languages and subtitles for those countries all on one disc.. There are some worthwhile PS3 titles that do use more space ( I mention below ) - but many dont because production cost of making longer games cost alot more money and games have to make a profit.. So alot of studios dont do it... In a way - Its the same trouble you MIGHT see at first with next generation gaming - It cost so much to make good ( and longer ) games that many studios in the next generation wont take the plunge to spend extra time at first to make a game that fills the disc..
While the the majority of (the 700 available ) PS3 games dont use anymore data then a dual layer Xbox 360 DVD ( 851 available games on Xbox 360, including arcade downloads )... Here are some of the more worthwhile PS3 titles that do UTILIZE more space ( yes, some of the space is still regional data, cut scenes, subtitles for other countries ).... Killzone 2 ( 12.4 gigs ), Motorstorm (14.7gigs ), Resistance 2 ( 18.4 gigs ), Uncharted: DF ( 20 gigs ), GT 5 ( 20 Gigs ) , Uncharted 2 ( 23 gigs ), MGS4 9 (33 gigs ), God of War 3 (40 gigs ).. again, keep in mind 7.1 audio can easily take up a several gigs on its own ! After removing the 7.1 audio and regional extras a few of the above titles would be DVD size or perhaps smaller (Killzone 2).. while God of War 3 could still be a 30 gig game after removing all the extras and audio.. God of War is an exclusive title and it sold almost 4 million copies so far.. Im not sure what a 'GOOD' profit margin is when a game as this takes alot of time to develop and much more money because it is so big ( disc space ).. but its one reason alot of studios wont do it.. but we can guess.. It took a massive 44 Million to develop God Of War 3... To put the game on a bluray disc, print a book for the game and the bluray case that holds the book and disc you're talking 7 dollars per copy.. at about million copies sold thats 28 million in packaging cost.. that brings the total to around 72 million.. God of War 3 began shipping most places at a reduced cost of 39.99 back in 2010.. at this price it would've grossed around $159 million .. and net profit would be around $87 million.. In comparison.. Gears of War 2- cost only 12 million to produce, cost less to package ( maybe 3 dollars ) since its on DVD and sold 6.1 million copies.. the profit margin was alot bigger because it cost less, sold more, and also sold at a higher price of 59.99 in the USA.. This is why alot of stuidos dont make big games.. Next generation I dont think 'at first' it'll change much even with Xbox likely to have a bluray player..
