I remember that I tried to use dolphin for Wii gaming but I think my DVD drive wasn't capable of recognizing Wii discs. Does anybody have a link to a cheap DVD drive that works well for dolphins purposes and is cheap?

Do you have a Wii? If yes, there is a much simpler solution by using a softmod. I know giving links to certain websites is not allowed here, so PM me if you need any instructions.

EDIT: Those (LG-8164b or LG-8163b or LG-8162b or LG-8161b) DVD drives do all work

Yeah I have a Wii but the console is packed up since I got my Wii U and I plan to give it away in early january. But thanks for the Information regarding DVD drives.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

This is probably due to your GPU then. Did you tinker around with the settings a bit? I remember I had to change some settings when I used Dolphin on my last notebook due to having only 256mb of VRam. Disabling fog and anti aliasing might help.

My biggest gripe with Dolphin is that some random games still won't run well unless you've got an extremely fast CPU (like 4GHz). I've got a 2.3GHz i7 (Ivy Bridge), 1GB of VRAM and 8GB RAM - some games run perfect even in 1080p with all sorts of effects turned on, others like F-Zero or Viewtiful Joe don't run well at all. When I run F-Zero GX in 720p I get a maximum of 20fps but CPU load is only at 50%. Metroid Prime has serious sound problems that can only be fixed by downloading a sound chip emulator that uses huge amounts of resources. I even have slowdowns in Sonic Adventure 2 (!) but I can play Pikmin 2 with 100 Pikmin on screen in 1080p. It's just not as optimized as PSX / N64 generation emulators yet.

There are loads of settings that you can change to get better framerates. Some will easily double your current FPS.

Sadly I haven't tested F-Zero and Sonic Adventures 2, but try a combination of these (for the best results one at a time to see what makes a difference):

Optimize Quantizers - OFF
uncheck Enable Audio Throttle
Disable Fog
Enable EFB Copy to Texture (instead of RAM)

I'd like to add that I really haven't been looking at the more recent versions. I bet they made even more progress but even with my version (revision 7459 from April 2011) everything works pretty good even on low end rigs.

i would love to play skyward swor in higher resolution,
but my pc is garbage , it has only 512 MB of ram so i think it's
imposible :(

I'll try those later. I tried some high settings fr grins and giggles which made Wind Waker look beautiful but it ran like shit. I tred the base settings ad it still ran really badly.  I'm not really interested in tinkering with the HTPC itself since I have balanced to use less power.

I'll probably just end up putting them on my home office PC since it is much better and should be able to handle the higher settings.

How well does the GameCube controller translate to the 360 controller?

Perfectly, I tried playing Metroid Prime e Smash Bros Melee, it is a natural fit. If you think about it the layout is quite similar: analogs and d-pad are in the same position, there are 2 analog shoulder triggers on both gamepads, the RB position on 360 is similar to the Z position on Gamecube, the only difference it's the A,B,X,Y buttons layout, it doesn't get much time to get used to it. (also the emulator gives you the ability to save multiple control setups, just in case).
