What a misconception.

 

The first Western game for PS3 comes at 17th in Japan. The first Japanese game for X360 in America comes at 36. So according to you Westerners don't buy Japanese games just because they're Japanese?


It's not just because they're Western, they just don't like them as much. Otherwise they wouldn't buy so many Western products and watch so many Western movies.

Look at Crash Bandicoot or DKC how much they sold. If they like them they get them.

God of War III has actually sold 143,414 in Japan because the GOW: Trilogy Edition includes a standard copy of GOW3 and it sold 26,307. That's impressive, especially when compared to how GOW 1&2 (20k and 40k) sold in Japan.

Yeah, its kind of sad that Naughty Dog lost their Japanese audience. Uncharted would be an even bigger franchise if they still had them.

A missconception indeed. The highest selling Western game for home consoles in Japan this gen is Donkey Kong Country Returns [Wii] at 983,440. On the other hand, the highest selling Japanese game for home consoles in the Americas alone, this gen is (I believe) New Super Mario Bros. Wii at about (wait for it) 11,375,010. Considering the size of console-specific user bases in each region, it's hard to argue who doesn't have a problem embracing foreign products. If you want to have a bit more fun, try switching Donkey Kong Country Returns [Wii] with the best-selling Western game in Japan for either the PS3 or X360. The japanese have a more particularly queer (dont read anything into it) taste for videogames and a time honored tradition of intolerance for anything that threatens the status-quo of domestic industry specific supremacy, than we do. Sometimes I think the '80's just went by for some people in our forums.

Most impressive indeed.I guess GOW4 is inevitable after all..
