I swear a rookie makes this mistake EVERY single time.

When you are downloading files, it is indicating to you the speed in bytes.  A byte is 8 bits.  When you are talking about what your internet speed is (what your IP says they offer or what speedtest shows, etc), it is always in bits.  So if you multiply your download speed by 8, that is what your internet is actually downloading stuff at in bits.

This speed is for wired, but only the PS3 actually uses a wired connection, I get more like 25 for wireless, though it can go down to 17 as we have about 3 different networks in different places
