I hate to flame, but the PS3 sales are quite pathetic. It had four (five?) days of price cut. If it can't show a decent boost after all that time despite the fact that price cuts are generally frontloaded, then it very much looks like the price cut failed. Let's keep in mind that it's only up 2k YOY. Heck, even Wii's flat YOY at the moment. This could lead to a 2010 holiday situation for PS3 and Wii at this rate. Sony had better hope that the lack of awareness excuse holds some value.

Have you not heard of market saturation? If the PS3 sells similar to last year, then it's good.

thats why Japan is handheld market now

Sudden price cuts are most definitely not always front loaded.

Do you really think that five days isn't enough for the word to spread? By the weekend, which is probably when half the week's sales occur, most people probably already knew about the price cut. Either way, it would be better to wait for next week's numbers than to argue about it. I could be wrong.

I'm surprised the Wii's holding up as well as it is; Rhythm Heaven turned out to be quite the system seller. (Inazuma and Epic Mickey didn't hurt either)

Is the DS pretty much done in Japan then? I heard someone say there will be one last Nintendo DS game coming this year there and that will be it for them. DS had about 10,000 this week with all its different iterations added, so that is alright. PS3 got a huge jump!

A kirby game,i believe?

3DS doing nicely. A 50% drop is less than you usually see AFAIK.

Decent boost for the PS3, though I expected more. Public awareness of the cut is probably low.

well japan is Handheld market right now

That hasn't stopped the PS3 selling in huge numbers on price cuts/big game releases.

well is 30k huge?i don't think even MHP3 HD,TOX release will boost PS3 sales much,beuase it's not PS3 problem,it's because japanese gamer choice 3DS/PSP and 90% PSV

There's a bundle for Xillia. It's guaranteed to give the PS3 a good boost. A lot of people didn't buy a PS3 this week because they're waiting for the Xillia bundle.

And handhelds won't kill consoles. It's not even the same market.

PS3 40k next wk?
