I find it weird that Orthodox would clock in as top Christian on here in the survey. Is it that VGChartz has a number of people from Eastern Europe or Russia on here?

I assume that a couple of people are just voting over and over again.

Have you ever seen the polls on here do that?

I am not entirely sure what I would be considered. My family belongs to a denomination where we believe Yahovah is a Demiurge who formed the universe in ignorance of 30 higher Gods.

The 30 Gods and Goddesses share a collective consciousness and existence called the Pleroma. Sophia was the youngest female of the 30 Gods, and went off on her own to find the origin of everything, and upon getting lost she became lonely and conceived Yahovah on her own. She was ashamed of him, and so hid him away and in his ignorance of everything, felt he was the original being, and brought the material universe into existence.

Sophia's divine power was scattered among the souls of humanity, and her consort from the Pleroma was born into flesh to bring Sophia (the soul of humanity) back to the totality of the Pleroma, the true divine power of the Universe, and not the false Yahovah of the old testament who was a jealous and flawed being, and not a true God.

Anyway, I am not sure if this falls under Protestant or not, anyone know what my family religion falls under?

Oh, one more detail, we practice in underground Temples, and in groves, because Cathedrals and Churches are a celebration of the material universe of Yahovah, and not the true path intended by Jesus.

thats not Christianity. but is interesting.

It is called Christianity. We also follow the bible.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say you ignore the Old Testament and just follow some of what Paul wrote?

Even Islam sees the Bible as a Holy text (Still not entirely sure how, but my Muslim friends assure me that it is). But Islam does not see Jesus as God and do not follow Christ as their lord and savior.

We don't see ANY Prophet as a lord (Jesus to us is a prophet, and part of the Trinity to you). But we do believe Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah who will save mankind and defeat the Antichrist.

Now as for seeing the Bible as a holy text: To be specific, we see the Gospel as one of the four Holy Texts revealed by God, the other two besides the Qur'an being the Zabur of David and the Torah of Moses.

@ IvorEvilen: There is a large difference between the beliefs of a theist and an atheist. An atheist belives in the absence of a god due to lack of evidence. A theist believes in a god in spite of a lack of evidence. One is making a positive claim while the other is negative.

Nope.

Elaborate, please? Because if there were falsifiable evidence, we'd all be, well, deists at least

I would try to, but it would be pointless, faith is required for you to understand what I would have said, and thats something you dont have. I once had a debate about this in a thread padib posted, look up for my posts, we both in the end ended up with agree to disagree

You believe, presumably, in science.

That is, that a tiny, infinitely dense ball of matter appeared out of nowhere and exploded into the universe we know today, perfectly cascading down into the circumstances that allowed humanity to flourish.

Christians believe that a higher power already existed, and created that tiny, infinitely dense ball of matter, and set in place the guiding principles of the universe (the laws of physics, chemistry and genetics).

Chrisitans believe something came out of nothing.

Athiests believe something came out of nothing.

I recognize there are Christians out there who deny evolution (which is of course, quite a redundant belief at this point), but seriously dude, lets not throw stones when we live in glass houses.

I think Athieism is a belief that organised religion is detrimental to society, it's ironic that the proper 'hardcore' athiests are basically part of a religion themselves. (Not to insult all athiests though, as I have a friend who is an athiest)

Personally I am agnostic, but I have a problem with what you said. People who believe the universe was not created by a higher being do not believe it was created out of nothing, rather that it is unknown what came before. (In science matter and mass itself is just a concept, a force. And atoms themselves would not have mass, or be matter if it were possible to break them apart. http://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=74297 as such there was not neccessarily such a thing as density before the big bang)

Science is a subject that strives to disprove itself, should scientific study find that a higher being[s] exists and created the "big bang" or in some way created the universe as we know it, then that would then be the belief of science also.

Athiesm is the belief that there is no higher power, although I'll grant you that doesn't necessarily mean that all athiests believe in science, as I implied.

My point stands.  One cannot say "I've no idea what the truth is" whilst simultaneously claiming someone else's truth is crazy.  At least, that is not a reasonable claim.

My problem with your original post is that Science does not believe "something came out of nothing", however I went on a slight tangent with my reply.

It's possible to do that if you log out and log on again. That, or maybe everyone else just hasn't visited the thread yet.

The way that the VGC polls are set up is that you can vote as many times as you want but only one vote per IP is counted. ioi has explained this a couple times.

What happened is that many people had already voted, but when Orthodox was added to the choice, the poll was reset.

Many of those who had already voted by then just didn't do so again.

Catholic was in the lead, followed closely by Protestant.

Are you absolutely sure?

Absolutely certain; we follow Jesus, the personification of the Divine Knowledge of the Pleroma.
