Forums - Sony - Rumor - Sorcery Pushed Back to Christmas 2012

Empire

Ever since the PlayStation Move exclusive "Sorcery" was shown, it has generated a lot of hype, as being one of the only core "Move-only" titles shown. Move has been criticized a lot for the fact that many of it's games are patches to older games or newer games launching with Move control only being an option, not a requirement for playing. Many have been asking for experiences built from the ground up to take full advantage of the motion controller.

However, after Sorcery was shown off earlier this year, it disappeared off the map. Nobody has been able to nail down a firm release date for the game, which originally was slated to launch later this year. However, a trip to the PlayStation Press Center site (A site where Sony posts information and media related to it's games for journalists to download for their sites.) revealed a release date for the game that we haven't heard before. See the screen below:

It is possible that this is just a projected release date, however if the date in the above image is to be believed, we have over a year to wait before we can begin casting spells with our Move controllers. This may explain why we have not heard much about the game lately. None the less, better they take their time and get it right than rush out an incomplete product.

You know what, now I really think it was just a product thrown together at first but received hype.... so they actually want to take their time with it.

I would have preferred it much earlier (like later this year) but as with Twisted Metal I'd much rather a game get delayed and be a really good game than a game which comes out early but is a disappointment. Hopefully this game when it does come out will be awesome and up to the hype.

Yeah, I think it may have been a glorified tech demo, not intended to get the full game treatment, but the buzz it created lead them to try to make an actual game of it. Either that or it was always intended to be a full blown game but they suddenly found it was really hard to make it into a really good full game.

Personally I think they need to give Epic Mickey the HD upgrade treatment. I can't stand Mickey Mouse so I'd never go near the game, but it's certainly a game that would make great use of motion control as a core essential feature of the gameplay experience. There's also Child of Eden coming.

So it wasn't canceled after all? thank you for the good news

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

i don't have a link but someone posted here that sony commeted that due to the hype it recieved they decided to up the budget significantly.   probably went from a psn release to a disc release ala twisted metal.
