Forums - Sony - Speculation on PSV battery life.

I'm hoping for 4 - 6 hours. If the PSV dual analog sticks can be as acurate as a dualshock then I'm gonna need all the battery I can get for Uncharted.

Well OLED screens are power efficient, it has no physical media and the Vita is quite big so they should be able to fit a substantial battery in it. On the other hand it has very powerful GPU and CPU for a handheld and it's possible that one of the things they cut to get down to the $250 price point may have been the battery (good batteries are expensive) they should get 4-6 hours depending on game and brightness without Wi-fi or 3G.

My guess it is 2-3 hours

This is my guess, too.  And I think a lot of people are going to complain (Like when PSP was about to launch and people were saying "We can't even watch Lord of the Rings before the battery dies!").  In the end, I don't think it will be much of a hinderance.  It's the cost of having a lot of power in the palm of your hands.  How long does your laptop/tablet last?

My laptop lasts 2 hours, because it has a 16" screen and is meant as a desktop PC which you can have on your lap if you are near a power port

PS Vita is to be carried around so needs more battery life. I would expect 4-5 hours with wi-fi and 3G off, but actually having Uncharted Golden Abyss and hopefully a GTA  is what I really want

That's cool.  But I'm willing to bet avatar control that I'm closer to correct than you--even with the oled screen and the lack of umd.  I don"t think the PSV will last one minute over 3 hours without a recharge.

I feel no need to take control of your avatar, so just a gentleman's bet....

Also I should point out, this is with wi-fi, 3G, low screen brightness but only for game playing so I can't cheat and claim it lasts 10 hours by playing music with the screen off.

Okay.  The bet is on but let me warn you.....I'm no gentlemen!

Yes, it does. Just not UMD's.

And same as PSP, due to reasons said above.

I don't know if you are being sarcastic, but come on.

I'm hoping at least 4-5 hours. I can get about 7 hours on the 3DS with wireless turned off and brightness on the lowest setting and playing a DS game. So with some adjustments, hopefully the PSV can get around 5 hours.

If it is in the same range like the psp, everything is ok
