Really? The masses only hate that bad for a two reasons: Jealousy or prejudice or lust denied. There's no other reasons for the vitriol to be so visceral. I don't think it's rejected lust, and what I'm reading doesn't look like prejudice. That leaves jealousy. This is personal attacks on her as a person. If it was just people trashing the song that might be coming from a different place, but when people hate a total stranger that comes from a very dark place. Sad, sad people.

I think you're oversimplifying this situation. Lots of popular singers today are hated by many. Take Justin Bieber for example. Lots of people hate her... I mean him (though I still don't buy it ), but millions of tween girls still adore him. People generally manifest hate when they see someone who they percieve as being 'crappy' having a lot of success, but we all like some singer that many will consider 'crappy' and 'ruining the music industry'.

However, Rebecca Black is a special case. She's universally hated. No one likes her. Everyone hates her. She has no fans. They had to disable the comments section from her YouTube video because they were overwhelmingly negative (go to a Justin Bieber vid, and you won't see this). Poeple watched that video just to mock her. They downloaded her song off of iTunes just to mock her also. This is something that has just not happened before, to my recollection. I think that many people simply view her as an emodiment of all that is wrong in the pop music world today. A sort of antichrist of decent music. She's a spoiled rich girl who can't sing but wants to be a singer, her parents payed to have her record a single and make a video, her voice sucks even with autotune, her video was terrible, and her song had some of the most stupid lyrics ever. She simply is one 'crappy' singer that EVERYONE hates, and I think that this is the reason why she's having such a hard time. Her case is what happens when people unanimously agree that a singer is worthless, which has never really happened before. IN a way, all the hate and frustration towards modern pop music is being channeled to her.

Well besides friday being one of the worst songs I've ever heard, bullying her out of school seems to be going a bit far.

Its one thing to be critical about her work cause lets face it she's no singer; If she really was good at singing, they wouldn't have masked her vocals with auto-tune so heavily. IMO That song was supposed to be a joke, intentionally. But its another thing to outright lash out on her for making a popular song because its so terrible; its ludacris.

She gets wayyyy more hate than necessary. I know both her songs are shit and people hate her because her parents bought her "fame" but still, she's a 14 year old kid for crying out loud. Give here a break.

I'm surprised she's still relevant. I was betting she'd be a ghost after Friday's novelty wore off.

The song is horrible but cmon people it's not that serious....haters gonna hate.
