He should be fine with i3 2100 for what he does on the computer. For mobo cheap H61 will be fine

2100T should do better, since he does no games and all. Much less vattage on it and only slightly more expensive, even at the loss of some clockspeed.

Same IGP too.

Diffrence is minimal as i3 2100 is already extremly efficient.

So only get 2100T if they cost the same.

Hmm but if he really only wants word and emails then new SB pentium would be enough:

then add m-ITX mobo

and you have ultra cheap power efficient combo than takes well below 100 w at full power

and you can put it in mini case:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129081

For a low power ultra small machine.

I was gonna suggest a Pentium G620 at first, but since it lacks many features that are useful for streaming, I didn't.

And while EIST will manage to cut them both in consumption, it's still a 30w difference. I didn't see direct benchmarks, but the difference is I don't remember... $10?

It should still pay off in the long run.

It's only 30W diffrence in TDP

And TDP is absolutly worst case scenario

Real world consumption is very close with 2100 being cheaper and a bit faster

Meh, mistook that for consumption, although lower TDP does suggest lower power consumption.

Seems like the finest pick out of the 4 though.

It is a 30W difference in TDP, but that is NOT POWER CONSUMPTION. The only savings you get from the 2100T is due to it running at a lower clockspeed (2.5 vs 3.1GHz base) and lower turbo, and hence less performance.

As you can see the 2100T is worse in performance AND performance per watt, as well as being more expensive:

^Yeah, I got that if you look at the above post, haha.

But you still thought it would consume less power. It uses more to do the same task.

What are you talking about? In all benchmarks but one, it consumed less, and in the other one it did more because it simply took a longer time to finish... at least according to your page

i have no idea wht any of this means for the most part but i'm learning something.

Yes but he is talking that i3 2100 will consume less because it finishes tasks faster.

That's correct, but I  doubt that'll play out in internet/office uses..

Just tell him to get a fusion laptop, an A8 E-350 one would do, cheap, fast, low power draw, does whatever the hell you want it to do outside of max gaming.
