Forums - Nintendo - Why do people hate on the stylus?

One of the main reasons for why I don't regularly play games on my iPod is because you're forced to use your fingers on the touchscreen. When I heard that the 3DS was using a single-touch stylus system, I was very pleased; turns out that not everyone feels this way.

I don't understand why people prefer this to using a stylus - it's better in almost every way.

1) More accurate touch controls

2) Helps to keep the screen clean

3) Can combine it more easily with regular controls (ie. one hand uses stylus, the other presses buttons)

For those people that are opposed to styluses, why do you prefer the other system? :)

using your fingers feels more lifelike with games like LovePlus...

That's a good question.
I much prefered old windows mobile phone with stylus operated touch screen (it could accurately display full set of windows solitare and you could hit each card easily) than all those new finger operated phones.

And even when you're given the option to use the stylus (and actually see what you're doing), you can still use your finger if you want. I just wanted multi-touch. I think some smart phones are able to upgrade to multi-touch and I hope the 3DS can, too.

--My sole gripe: The stylus can get lost.

In my opinion the stylus pens is the way to go for playing games. It don't work great with every game but better than using my fingers.

You know how you hate one thing about your gf when you stopped loving her. And then everything else about her just annoy the hell out of you?

Yeah i think people wanted multi touch more than hate on the styles... I know that if the touchscreen is capacitive then the stylus becomes much more expensive which is why Nintendo did what they did (Cheap ol' Nintendo)

The 3DS stylus is telescopic... how can you hate that?

For me I don't favour stylus over touch screen. Honestly I lose my stylus often. Pulling it out every time I want to play a game is annoying and then holding the stylus while pressing the buttons and navigating with the analog nub. Its just a major hassle I like being able to just quickly use my finger to touch so that my hand is free for the buttons. Also the stylus scratches the screen if your not extremely careful. All my DS's are fine because I am very careful but my sisters screen by the time she upgraded to DSi and then 3DS was horrible it was covered in stylus scratches.

You can whipe off a finger print but a scratch is their for ever.

So because of these reasons I prefer a touch screen. Though I must say I still use my stylus from time to time!

good reasons:

1. Its hard to use other control when using the stylus

2. To use other controls you have to keep switching between stylus and regular controls which can be too slow and awkward.

3. You can lose that dam stylus

4. Its faster to just use your finger instead

5. Its more natural to use your finger over stylus to push touch screen buttons.

Did i mention you can lose that stylus.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
