People here are pessimistic.

Of course FFXV will be as big as Oblivioan and Skyrim. Y'all need to watch this video of the size of the world in FFXIV: http://youtu.be/xkbeYN3MxF0

If FFXIV is that big then FFXV will aim to be that size, too. Just like how FFXII aimed to be around the same size as FFXI.

Because they did it once, they will surely do it ever after?

Also, how can XIV not be big, SE would reach new lows if they made an MMO where you run through corridors.

And no one said XV is being made.

Personally, I think they should stop thinking that they have to have the best graphics around and focus on gameplay. I think it is obvious that people don't care so much about graphics. You can make huge world with the graphics capabilities of, say, Oblivion, Assassin's Creed, etc. I don't think FF fans would mind much if that results in bigger maps, bigger stories and better gameplay.

I know that overworld comes back its still just a solution to do it the proper way (we wont see it the proper way anytime soon.)

The properway is to create whole gigantic maps where you can fly freely with your airship (maybe some areas where you cant go at the begining because its war or something. With a lot of towns sidequests that lead you to different parts of the world. And a world thats so seamless and complex that it seems you are seeing a parallel universe through someone elses eye.

I hope they can pull it off in FF vs13. I played FF despite Overworld and random fights. Not because of. Who knows maybe they surprise me. But I hope the time comes once graphical development came to an end and new technologies and tools made it cheap to develop games that we can say hello to vast FF worlds.

Actually I take that back, Chrono Trigger had overworlds but no random encounters.

They just need to play with scale a bit more.

Silver-Tiger, go play Lost Odyssey for your turn-based fix. Hop on it, it's great.

Same with pretty much any Tales games I played...

I'd tell you to get Vesperia, but I think you already did.

Both Vesperia and Lost Odeysee are on 360, which I don't own, and most Tales games are now on DS  >.<

And my Japanese isn't good enough (yet) to play the Japanese version of Vesperia. I've played Tales of Symphonia 2, and that was quite good actually, despite what I heard from many fans. And I urgently awaiting the releases of Xillila of Graces F.

Seriously? I always thought you had a 360, haha.

The thing about Tales games... they are ALWAYS fun... and with DS being cheap+region, there's no reason for you not to get one with a Tales game prefferably... (for the day your Japanese will be infact good for them)

Might as well just get a 3DS, now that it has become so cheap. ;D

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.
